CCSO, PDs sweep area for drugs
On Nov. 4 and 5 the following agencies joined forces and participated in the Multi-Agency Patrol Saturation in Crawford County: Galion PD, Bucyrus PD, Crestline PD, Ohio Highway Patrol, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, the Adult Patrol Authority, METRICH and MARMET drug task force.
The program is designed to target high-risk areas for drug trafficking or other illegal activities, and have a positive impact on the community. The information used was derived from intelligence that was gathered prior to and during the operation. The program was successful in that there were over 400 vehicles stopped for various violations and warnings. In some vehicles stopped there was heroin, pills, marijuana and drug paraphernalia that was seized.
Several searches were conducted netting $20,000 in cash, numerous firearms were seized along with heroin, syringes and other drug paraphernalia items. A total of 19 persons were arrested and booked into the Crawford County Jail.
