CCSO, PDs sweep area for drugs

On Nov. 4 and 5 the fol­low­ing agen­cies joined forces and par­tic­i­pated in the Multi-Agency Patrol Sat­u­ra­tion in Craw­ford County: Galion PD, Bucyrus PD, Crest­line PD, Ohio High­way Patrol, the Craw­ford County Sheriff’s Office, the Mar­ion County Sheriff’s Office, Wyan­dot County Sheriff’s Office, the Adult Patrol Author­ity, METRICH and MARMET drug task force.

The pro­gram is designed to tar­get high-risk areas for drug traf­fick­ing or other ille­gal activ­i­ties, and have a pos­i­tive impact on the com­mu­nity. The infor­ma­tion used was derived from intel­li­gence that was gath­ered prior to and dur­ing the oper­a­tion. The pro­gram was suc­cess­ful in that there were over 400 vehi­cles stopped for var­i­ous vio­la­tions and warn­ings. In some vehi­cles stopped there was heroin, pills, mar­i­juana and drug para­pher­na­lia that was seized.

Sev­eral searches were con­ducted net­ting $20,000 in cash, numer­ous firearms were seized along with heroin, syringes and other drug para­pher­na­lia items. A total of 19 per­sons were arrested and booked into the Craw­ford County Jail.
