Local athletes on All-MOAC, District squads

Sev­eral local ath­letes were hon­ored when the Cen­tral Dis­trict and Mid-Ohio Ath­letic Con­fer­ence recently dis­trib­uted their post­sea­son awards.
A num­ber of bas­ket­ball play­ers were tabbed to the All-District teams.
For the boys, Kolby Sny­der of Mount Gilead was a first-team pick in Divi­sion III, while both Cardington’s K.C. Brown and Northmor’s Char­lie Burggraf were named to the third team.
Jett Swet­land of High­land was an hon­or­able men­tion pick in Divi­sion II; while both Ethan Har­ris and Jake Sturges of Mount Gilead, as well as Zach Wise­man of North­mor, earned that recog­ni­tion in Divi­sion III; as did Tan­ner Kurilec and Isaac Oberdier of Gilead Chris­t­ian.
Mount Gilead senior Ash­ley Ohler paced local girls by being named to the Divi­sion III first team. Team­mate Jessie Baldridge and Cardington’s Kianna Sed­lacek both were picked to the third team.
Highland’s Heather Thacker got hon­or­able men­tion in Divi­sion II, as did Cardington’s Clar­isa Lyons in Divi­sion III.
In the MOAC, Brown, Burggraf and Sny­der were all named to the league’s first team in boys’ bas­ket­ball. They were joined by Baldridge, Ohler and Sed­lacek on the girls’ side of things.
The results of league tour­na­ments deter­mined the all-league hon­orees in both wrestling and bowl­ing. Weight class cham­pi­ons were hon­ored in wrestling, while the top seven fin­ish­ers in bowl­ing were named to the first team.
For wrestling, Luke Clemens of High­land, Tyler Beck of North­mor and Colton Jenk­ins and Jon McCle­nathan of Card­ing­ton were all named to the first team.
While no Mor­row County boys’ bowlers were named to the first team, the girls’ team was rep­re­sented by Cardington’s Mor­gan Edgell, Austin Elliott, Esther Elliott and Cas­sidy Scar­berry.
