By ROB HAMILTON –
Highland’s Cassie Brown pitched a no-hitter last Monday as the Scots topped Centerburg in eight innings.
The Morrow County team scored both their runs in the extra frame to break a scoreless tie. Brown finished with six strikeouts and three walks in her outing.
Highland was held to two hits, both singles by Megan Davis. Davis drove in one run, while Katie Johnson had the other RBI.
On Friday, the Scots beat Cardington 2–1 and then, on Saturday, they swept a doubleheader from Fredericktown.
They won the first game 16–4, as Shayla Pierce struck out one and walked four to get the win. Highland mustered 17 hits, including a two-run homer by Katie Johnson, as they overcame an early 4–1 deficit to score seven in the bottom of the second and eight in the fourth.
In the second game, Highland took a 13–3 victory. The Freddies led 3–0 midway through the third inning, but the Scots scored four in their half of the frame and then added seven in the fourth and two more in the fifth.
Brown took the win in relief of Hailey Moore. The two combined for four strikeouts and four walks.
Offensively, the Scots got 10 hits with Kenzi Rhodes blasting a two-run homer.
