Mid-Ohio hosting May FanFest
Mid-Ohio is starting its 2012 docket early with a season-opening FanFest that will be held at the track Friday, May 4.
Fans of all ages are invited out for this free event starting at 5 p.m. As people file in, they are welcome to head to their favorite spot to watch the races as the Potomac Porsche Club of America will be competing on track until 5:30 p.m. Following that, the track is open to fans for pace car rides in official Mid-Ohio vehicles. Up next, parade laps take place during which fans will have the opportunity to drive their vehicles on the same racing line as legends like Mario Andretti and Jackie Stewart.
FanFest is held in conjunction with the final day to purchase tickets at advance prices, representing the lowest prices available all year long. The track will have tickets on sale throughout the event, enabling fans to get their passes in hand immediately. The deadline to order at the advance prices is midnight ET on Friday, May 4.
“I am excited to see everyone and hope to spend some time talking with our great fans that support us all season long,” said Craig Rust, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course president. “It’s a great opportunity for our fans to have some fun but also purchase tickets for their favorite events at the season’s lowest prices.”
Fans over 18 with a valid driver’s license and an appetite for speed can pilot an Acura TSX through Mid-Ohio’s autocross course. The fastest time at the end of the night will win a pair of tickets to a race of their choice. Additionally, concessions and souvenir stands will be open until 8:15 p.m. The iRacing simulator will be on site as well. Over three million laps have been run at Mid-Ohio in just over two years the track has been included on the iRacing.com.
The FanFest schedule is as follows:
