May 23's Letters to the Editor
Dear Sir or Madam:
I don’t know who Ed Nemecheck of Landers, California is either, Ms. Fricke, but I have a fair idea why he would want to write the Morrow County Sentinel Editor. Ed could be an Email mill writing the Sentinel and a hundred other papers across the country or maybe a concerned citizen sounding a warning in his once hometown.
Either way it is unfortunate because it just is not true. It is true that the United Nations would like to tighten regulations to do with the illicit arms trade around the world, but my guess is it would do little to stop arms dealers from fueling armed conflicts as war is very, very profitable. As for any of these effecting your right to buy or carry a firearm into your favorite restaurant or church, it will not happen.
As established in the 1957 Supreme Court case Ried v. Covert, no treaty supersedes THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION. To eliminate or alter The 2nd Amendment would require Congressional approval and ratification by the states.
The letter is meant to scare you into believing Obama is coming for your guns with the help of the world of United Nations just as they try to scare you about gay marriage, war on christians, welfare fraud. If you passed it on to a friend or gave money, it worked.

Dear Sir or Madam,
Why do the Democrats not see just how illogical their support of President Obama is?
In the time since his historic election, he has not fulfilled most of the promises he made, despite the fact that for the first two years of his administration, he had a Democrat Congress to help him. Considering also that many of the things he has tried to do were and are contrary to the Constitution and, it would seem to me, only detrimental to our American way of life.
His supporters make the argument that he inherited a real mess, which I won’t dispute however, many Presidents have inherited messes, case in point Ronafd Reagan, and have come out on top. I recall that in the campaigning before 2010, the Democrats had bragged that THEY had successfully driven the car ‘out of the ditch’ that the Republicans had driven us in to. If that were the case, then the mess should have been cleaned up by that time.
Many of the folks I know who tend to vote Democrat are either Union members or their family members are, or their parents or spouses are Democrats and therefore they tend to vote democrat, with no thought as to just why they are voting Democrat, just so they have a donkey symbol in front of their name. (For those who wonder why the donkey is the symbol of the Democrat Party, it goes back to Andrew Jackson, who was called a Jackass by his detractors and he subsequently added that symbol to his campaign posters.)
As far as the African-Americans identifying more closely with the Democrats, it makes no sense to me at all. It was the Democrats who consistently fought to keep them enslaved and, in essence, are keeping them enslaved to this day by saying to them that you can’t do anything without the government’s help and the Dems did not want to give them equal rights, until LBJ and a Republican Congress, passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Most of the folks that I know who vote Republican, for the most part, don’t depend on what their brother, sister, mom, dad, neighbor, or co-worker say. They tend to think for themselves and vote for the candidate whose views most mirror their own. They are not like so many Lemmings who just follow the lemming in front of them, and plunge to their ends, over the cliff, just so they won’t be perceived as unsophisticated or politically incorrect.
No question, Mr. Obama is an eloquent speaker and has a way with words, however words will not solve the problems, we, as a country, face at this point in time.
