May 9's Letters to the Editor

To the Editor,

The Morrow County Tea Party exercises its First Amendment Rights frequently. I see Mr. Hack and others write long letters to The Editor reminding us of the wisdom of the founding fathers. I have attended Tea Party meetings occasionally and in the beginning they were rightly angered by the direction of the country and although I differed with them on where to place the blame they tried to appear to be open and accepting of everyone.

Last week I attended to find a notice on the door that they reserved to right to ask anyone to leave based on the absurd fear that The Occupy Wall Street’s might attend for the purpose of disrupting the proceedings. The meeting tone had changed considerably, now showing open disdain for liberals and progressives. You know the type, commies and socialist etc.… I have been exposed to all sides of politics over the years, but I have never met the Democrat, Liberal, or Progressive they describe. They work themselves into a frenzy over fictional situations and stories demonstrated by their movie of the night. A climate change denier that attempts to prove climate change is a hoax with cherry picked facts and his own brand of logic or lack thereof.

It is a small group and I could have overlooked it all with a laugh, but a few days later I received a forwarded racist email from them with the disclaimer “I didn’t check this out, but I bet it’s true”. The email goes on to tell the story of a 20 year old girl with eight children becoming the bread winner. She keeps the children coming to insure an $144,000 annual income from the state for the family (The State of Illinois provides nothing like this). Of course there is a picture included of mom and kids. It does seem a little strange that the supposed Dr. who related this story would have a family picture available. But, why question a fiction that whips up your base?

I am pretty sure if I were to go to another meeting I would be asked to leave along with all the Occupy Wall Street’s, but that’s OK. I can live with that and if your curious you might do a little research on what the founding fathers really thought.

Jim Clark, Marengo

To the Editor:
ONLY BY POLITICALLY FORCING OUR SO-CALLED POLICE AND POLITICAL POTENTATES to uphold our U.S. Constitution — that THEY have sworn to uphold, but do not, — can we stop the violent crime and return our communities to security, sanity, and prosperity, and we need our U.S. Constitutional 2nd Amendment gun rights, with no ifs, ands, or buts (that most police DENY us) to protect ourselves, families, and communities.
Otherwise we will continue to be maimed and killed by the armed criminals that most police and their bosses protect by unconstitutionally disarming average citizens on the streets who are trying to protect themselves (that’s us) — and they (the police-bosses) should be prosecuted for it, as they have betrayed us and our U.S. Constitution that they have sworn to uphold and defend! — See: (JBS.org (gun control) — and also contact Congress to Stop the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty which Hillary Clinton supports to enable the United Nations to confiscate the private guns of American citizens. — We must act now to stop government and City Hall — and the U.N. from taking our private firearms — CONTACT CONGRESS!
Sincerely,
Ed Nemechek, Landers, California

Morrow County Tea Party does not have an “absurd” fear that the OWS might attend. OWS is real even though law abiding citzens who have seen the destruction and criminal activity the bring with them, wish they would go away. I have attended some Tea Party meetings and they are very informative. If you found it personnally offensive you might want to take a good look in the mirrow. How many meetings have you attended? Apparently you have attended quite a few since you are able to say the “meeting tone had changed considerably, now showing open disdain for liberals and progressives.” It could be that that they showed that disdain from the very beginning of the organization of the group. I know I would show that open disdain for any person who wanted to destroy my country. And yes, I do know the type communists, socialist and marxists. Again, you say you have been exposed to all sides of politics over the years, but I have never met the Democrat, Liberal, or Progressive that they describe. You may want to look in the mirror.

OWS has done more property damage than any Tea Party Organization since the Tea Party inception. OWS deficated on a police car, they have smashed windows of corporate buildings, they have raped women in their little tent cities, they steal food,… (since you ‘research’ things — research it) I could go on and on. You say you are OWS — yes, I would put up a sign to tell you to go away as well.
