Grant get books for Cardington schools

By EVELYN LONG

Cardington-Lincoln students have been given a new and wide choice of books to read. The 110 books were purchased with funds from a $750 grant obtained by the school’s Faculty Association and sponsored by the Ohio Education Association, said Katie Porteus, the district Librarian.

The books are divided evenly between the district’s three libraries, the Intermediate, elementary and junior high/ high school. Porteus said the books are basically related to science and history but a few are novels. She said books were also purchased last year and donated to grades K-8 and to the high school book club.

Junior high students were browsing through the books on the day this story was done. Porteus is assisted in the library by Lori Vance and Mindy McGinnis, aides. Pam Frysinger is president of the Faculty Association and she helped to write the grant.
