Lady Scots win two league games

Highland blasted North Union in softball Monday by a 17–3 margin in a game shortened to five innings due to the run rule.
The host Scots put up six runs in the first inning, four in the second and six in the third to take an insurmountable lead in the contest.
Highland finished with 16 hits in the game, with Cassie Brown, Kenzi Rhodes, Jessie Stewart and Megan Davis all having multiple hits. Brown, Rhodes and Johnson, as well as Shayla Pierce and Hailey Moore, all had doubles in the contest.
Pierce claimed the win on the mound, as she struck out four, walked three and scattered four hits.
After losing to Mount Gilead on Wednesday, the Scots rebounded with an 8–3 win over Elgin on Friday.
Elgin led 3–0 midway through the third inning, but the Scots tied the game with three in the bottom of the frame. They would go ahead with a score in the fourth and then blew the game open with four seventh-inning runs.
Pierce took the win, giving up four hits and striking out four. Brown, Rhodes and Johnson all hit two doubles in the game, as Highland mustered 10 hits. Stewart added a double.
