Mansfield bank to sponsor vintage races
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course announced that Mechanics Bank will title next month’s Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio.
While June 22–24 will mark the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association’s 30th straight appearance at Mid-Ohio, it will be the first under the Mechanics Bank Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio banner.
“We are excited to partner with Mid-Ohio and participate in a community event of this magnitude,” said Deborah Schenk, president and CEO of Mechanics Bank. “As Richland County’s only home-owned bank, our community is our priority. We’re honored to play a part in the events and activities that make our community great.”
The Mechanics Bank Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio on-track action features 11 diverse SVRA racing groups segmented by speed and model year that will combine for nearly two dozen races over the three-day event.
In addition to the speeding history on the road course, the infield will be filled with hundreds of classic street and race cars parked in corrals or entered in one of two car shows. The grand marshal of the event will be announced in the coming weeks. A new logo was also developed in recognition of the partnership and can be viewed on midohio.com.
“Mechanics Bank stepping up to title the event is great for the track, SVRA and the community. We look forward to working with Deborah and her team to further build and develop our partnership,” said Mid-Ohio President Craig Rust.
This year’s Featured Marque has been expanded into a British Invasion, highlighting Jaguar, MG, Rolls Royce and all the manufacturers that call the British Isles home.
Weekend tickets for the Mechanics Bank Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio start at $30. General parking is free and children 12 and under are also admitted free.
