Stolen vehicle found in Amanns Reservoir

A 1991 yellow Ford pickup stolen out of Candlewood Lake more than a week ago was pulled from Amanns Reservoir in northern Morrow County Sunday evening.

The Galion Police Department was dispatched to the area of Amanns and Amicks Reservoirs May 20 in reference to a vehicle in the water. Officers checked the area, were unable to locate a vehicle and spoke with a fisherman, who advised he had not seen or heard anything.

Members of the Iberia Fire Department and Morow County EMS arrived to assist, and as an officer was walking back to the cruiser, he was approached by a man stating the vehicle they were looking for was in the water below the dam area.

The Morrow County Dive Team, Ronk’s Towing and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources were contacted. Volunteers from Morrow County arrived on scene to assist. When Ronk’s arrived on the scene the diver was able to hook up the vehicle and it was pulled out without incident.

Dispatch advised that there had been a blue Yamaha dirt bike in the bed of the truck when it was stolen. The area was checked again, but no bike was found.

This case remains under investigation by the Morrow County Sheriff’s Department.
