Tuesday District Track Results

In the first day of district track competition, a handful of local athletes earned trips to next week’s regional meets.
On Tuesday, boys competed in field event finals, while girls did the 3200-meter relay finals and preliminary rounds in other running events.
In the Division III meet held at Gahanna-Lincoln, the Mount Gilead girls’ 3200 relay team of Raychel Gress, Bryanna Bolha, Mikaela Bush and Rachel Bush took third place in 10:06.08 to advance.
Northmor’s squad of Dani Blum, Brie Heminger, Kelly Pope and Sarah Ruhl placed sixth in that event in 10:56.89, to miss making the top four and advancing by two places.
The boys’ Division III district was divided into two groups. Locally, Gilead Christian was placed in the first group; while Cardington, Mount Gilead and Northmor all are in the second group.
In the first group, Gilead Christian’s Danny Bruce took fourth in the long jump (20’8.5) to advance to regionals. Teammate Aaron Martin took eighth in the discus with an effort of 104’2” to score points for the squad.
In the second group, both Mount Gilead’s Logan Chapman and Northmor’s Tyler Beck advanced to regionals in the two throwing events. Chapman was second in the shot put (42’3.5”) and discus (131’3”), while Beck was third in both events. He threw the discus 120’9” and heaved the shot 41’6”.
Cardington’s Zach Zvansky won the high jump with a leap of 6’1” and took fourth in the pole vault (12’6”) to also move on in a pair of events.
Three more Knight boys advanced in the field events. Ethan Nichols (13’3”) and Jamie Baldridge (12’6”) took second and third, respectively, in the pole vault; while Garrett Karcher cleared 5’10” to place fourth in the high jump.
Mount Gilead’s Branson West took eighth in the pole vault by clearing 11’6” and Noah Scott was eighth in the high jump with a leap of 5’6” to score points.
While Highland didn’t advance anyone to regionals in Tuesday’s action in the Division II district meet at Westerville South, Colton Stanley placed in both throwing events. He was sixth in the shot put with an effort of 43’7.5” and took eighth in the discus (112’7”).
