Cardington hands out spring awards

Brandon Dodrill, Cardington-Lincoln High School Athletic Director, announces the spring sports awards recipients.
GIRLS TRACK: Sydney Zierden, captain and Most Valuable Player; Chesney Adams received the Pirate Award; Samantha Bennett was named Most Valuable Sprinter and Kelsee Lothes, Most Valuable Thrower.
Other letter winners are Makenzie Coulter, Shelby Harper and McKenzie Smith;
Participants were: Brianna Barnes, Harley Congrove and Katie Spargo. Coaches were Todd Jolliff and Jon Naylor and assistant was Dan Poorman.
BOYS TRACK: Zach Zvansky was captain, Most Valuable Athlete and District Champion; Mitch Yake was most Valuable Mid-Distance; Dustin Briggs, Most Valuable Sprinter and Mat Nadzam earned the Pirate Award.
Other letter winners were Andrew Johnson and Chris Scherzer. Participants were Devon Bartlett, Clayton Fisher, Nick Fisher, Jarred Gandelot, Dillon Harruff, Will MacCready, Garrett Rowe and Noah Zierden. Coaching were Todd Jolliff and Jon Naylor and they were assisted by Dan Poorman.
BOYS BASEBALL: Kasey Brown was Most Valuable Player and first team all-MOAC, Cody Hitchman was Most Improved Player and Alex Taha won the Pirate Award
Varsity Lettermen are Dustin Blanton, Travis Boyd, Kasey Brown, Chase Deckling, Andy Dever, Cody Hitchman, Daron Landon, Zachary Lothes, Jonathan McClenathan, Charlie Miller, Ian Snyder, Alex Taha and Blair Wolcott.
Coach was Charlie Miller and assisting were Nate Fiant, Justin Rogers and Zach Hampton.
JV participants were Cole Blackwell, Jordan Brewster, Tyler Dornon, Cole Hess, Tristan High, Nate Howard, Josh Kill and Drew Shafer. JV coaches were Nate Fiant and Justin Rogers.
GIRLS SOFTBALL: Sophie Noe was the Most Valuable Player and first team all MOAC, Lauren Fout won the Pirate Award; Leah Doubikin and Khyla Jones were Most Improved.
Varsity players were Sophie Noe, Brooklin Patterson, Lauren Fout, Marcie Coder, Bobbi Venable, Leah Doubikin, Alex Salyers, Paige Clark, Kayla Hurt, Kirsten Dever, Khyla Jones, Brooke Snyder, Mason Disterdick, and Aubrey Clark. Coaching were Tod Brininger and Alan Adams.
JV Participants were Macy Baxter, Katie Townsend, Shelby Beckett, Lexia Wilson, Brooke Jackson, Jane Perry, Paige Aleshire, Kaitlyn Kavanaugh and Rebecca Aleshire. JV coach was Brian Peak
Point Awards were made to Andy Dever, Zach Lothes, Paige Clark and Lauren Fout, 12 points and Mitch Yake, Charlie Miller and Sophie Noe, 25 points.
