Cardington hands out spring awards

Bran­don Dodrill, Cardington-Lincoln High School Ath­letic Direc­tor, announces the spring sports awards recipients.

GIRLS TRACK: Syd­ney Zier­den, cap­tain and Most Valu­able Player; Ches­ney Adams received the Pirate Award; Saman­tha Ben­nett was named Most Valu­able Sprinter and Kelsee Lothes, Most Valu­able Thrower.

Other let­ter win­ners are Maken­zie Coul­ter, Shelby Harper and McKen­zie Smith;

Par­tic­i­pants were: Bri­anna Barnes, Harley Con­grove and Katie Spargo. Coaches were Todd Jol­liff and Jon Nay­lor and assis­tant was Dan Poorman.

BOYS TRACK: Zach Zvan­sky was cap­tain, Most Valu­able Ath­lete and Dis­trict Cham­pion; Mitch Yake was most Valu­able Mid-Distance; Dustin Briggs, Most Valu­able Sprinter and Mat Nadzam earned the Pirate Award.

Other let­ter win­ners were Andrew John­son and Chris Scherzer. Par­tic­i­pants were Devon Bartlett, Clay­ton Fisher, Nick Fisher, Jarred Gan­de­lot, Dil­lon Har­ruff, Will Mac­Cready, Gar­rett Rowe and Noah Zier­den. Coach­ing were Todd Jol­liff and Jon Nay­lor and they were assisted by Dan Poorman.

BOYS BASEBALL: Kasey Brown was Most Valu­able Player and first team all-MOAC, Cody Hitch­man was Most Improved Player and Alex Taha won the Pirate Award

Var­sity Let­ter­men are Dustin Blan­ton, Travis Boyd, Kasey Brown, Chase Deck­ling, Andy Dever, Cody Hitch­man, Daron Lan­don, Zachary Lothes, Jonathan McCle­nathan, Char­lie Miller, Ian Sny­der, Alex Taha and Blair Wolcott.

Coach was Char­lie Miller and assist­ing were Nate Fiant, Justin Rogers and Zach Hampton.

JV par­tic­i­pants were Cole Black­well, Jor­dan Brew­ster, Tyler Dornon, Cole Hess, Tris­tan High, Nate Howard, Josh Kill and Drew Shafer. JV coaches were Nate Fiant and Justin Rogers.

GIRLS SOFTBALL: Sophie Noe was the Most Valu­able Player and first team all MOAC, Lau­ren Fout won the Pirate Award; Leah Doubikin and Khyla Jones were Most Improved.

Var­sity play­ers were Sophie Noe, Brook­lin Pat­ter­son, Lau­ren Fout, Mar­cie Coder, Bobbi Ven­able, Leah Doubikin, Alex Saly­ers, Paige Clark, Kayla Hurt, Kirsten Dever, Khyla Jones, Brooke Sny­der, Mason Dis­ter­dick, and Aubrey Clark. Coach­ing were Tod Brininger and Alan Adams.

JV Par­tic­i­pants were Macy Bax­ter, Katie Townsend, Shelby Beck­ett, Lexia Wil­son, Brooke Jack­son, Jane Perry, Paige Aleshire, Kait­lyn Kavanaugh and Rebecca Aleshire. JV coach was Brian Peak

Point Awards were made to Andy Dever, Zach Lothes, Paige Clark and Lau­ren Fout, 12 points and Mitch Yake, Char­lie Miller and Sophie Noe, 25 points.
