'Trust your inner GPS' is the message for Gilead Christian grads
By Alberta Stojkovic -
Gilead Christian School Administrator Aimee Horton opened the GCS Graduation Ceremony with praise for the class of 2012 as the greatest class she has yet to see at Gilead Christian. She added that she is confident that they are ready to go out into the world.
“This class shines – every single one,” said Horton with a tear in her eye.
GCS Principal Stacey Prothman introduced the Salutatorian, Chaise Mosher and Valedictorian, Lyndee Sayers.
Mosher brought laughter and tears to the audience with her “living room chat” that ended with the things she will always remember. Sayers also got laughs as she asked for audience participation for her “Mad-Lib” that included all the class members.
“This is a momentous day,” said Sayers as she thanked parents, teachers and classmates. She said she decided to do her speech with some humor and fun and didn’t want to do a “cookie cutter speech.”
Salutatorian, Chaise Mosher is the daughter of Matthew and Michelle Mosher. She will be attending Indiana Wesleyan in the fall and plans to major in education with a minor in Intercultural Studies. She hopes to use her degree to pursue a career in missions.
Valedictorian, Lyndee Sayers is the daughter of Ed and Becky Sayers. She will be attending Cornerstone University in Michigan. She hopes to become a Physician’s Assistant and to “continue the Kingdom of God wherever she goes.”
Special Guest Speaker, Sue Feasal kept the crowd’s attention with her speech on our inner GPS “God’s Perfect Story”. Feasal has been a teacher and administrator at Christian Star Academy in Mount Vernon for 39 years. She emphasized that listening and following God’s voice is our choice. She asked parents and friends to pray for the graduates that they would know their calling.
“Pray that your children will know their calling. Then trust God – that’s huge,” said Feasal.
“We know we are in tune with our GPS when we sit back and watch God at work,” Feasal said.
Of the 14 GCS graduates of 2012, 7 will be attending four year colleges and universities, 4 will be attending technical colleges and 3 will be employed as interns to follow in career paths or at work before they begin their future education.
GCS 2012 graduating class includes: Zachary William Addison, Makenzy Morgan Allison, Mary Kathryn Arrington, Katherine Sue Boner, Zackary Allen Brown, Kelly Collins, Necole Mary Geanis, Tanner Michael Kurilec, Chaise Elizabeth Mosher, Drew Jorden Ruckel, Lyndee Renee Sayers, Taylor Ann Smith, Micah Adam Swanson and Jason Andrew Zeigler.
