IndyCar drivers to be at Mid-Ohio Thursday for free test day

Fans are invited to attend free of charge as sev­eral IZOD Indy­Car Series teams pre­pare them­selves for the Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio on Aug. 3–5 by com­ing to the track in Mor­row County for a test day on Thurs­day, July 26.

There are 18 dri­vers on 11 teams ten­ta­tively sched­uled to test at the track next Thurs­day. Among those expected to test include Ohio native Gra­ham Rahal, cur­rent points leader Ryan Hunter-Reay, three-time Mid-Ohio win­ner Scott Dixon and four-time series cham­pion racer Dario Franchitti.

Fans are encour­aged to come out and watch their favorite Indy­Car dri­vers test their machines. Seven of the 18 dri­vers expected to par­tic­i­pate are cur­rently in the Top 10 in points, includ­ing Ryan Hunter-Reay (cur­rent cham­pi­onship leader), Will Power, Scott Dixon (three-time Mid-Ohio win­ner), James Hinch­cliffe (2011 Rookie of the Year), Dario Fran­chitti (four time series cham­pion), Ryan Briscoe (2008 Mid-Ohio win­ner) and Oriol Servia.

The Honda Indy 200 Test Day will be open to the pub­lic from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Fans wish­ing to attend the test may enter at Gate 3 and are per­mit­ted to watch the action from the Key­hole or the Infield. More event infor­ma­tion and an access map will be dis­trib­uted to fans when they arrive. Fans are also wel­come to bring food and/or cool­ers. The test­ing will break at noon for one hour. Tick­ets for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Chal­lenge & The Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio on August 3–5 will be avail­able for pur­chase through­out the day at Gate 2.

The Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio is the twelfth stop of the sea­son for the IZOD Indy­Car Series. The Amer­i­can Le Mans Series will also be com­pet­ing in the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Chal­lenge, which is the only time all sea­son that both series will be com­pet­ing at a per­ma­nent road course.

Gen­eral Admis­sion tick­ets for The Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Chal­lenge on August 3–5 start at $80 for the week­end and $50 per race day.
