The Cardington-Lincoln High School Pirate football team kicked off the 2012–13 year with the traditional pie auction held Saturday, Aug. 4, in the high school cafeteria.

A total of $3,902 was generated from the sale of 37 pies. Each pie was presented by a member of the football team. Auctioneer was Wes Wigton.

The Pistachio pie of Crew Cochran sold for a record $580 and was purchased by his family. The money derived from the pie auction will fund the purchase of equipment, uniforms, video equipment, etc. for the team.

Each player was introduced by varsity coach Brandon Dodrill. The cheerleaders who later held their own pie auction, confirmed each sale with the buyer.

The cheerleaders raised $752 from their pie auction. The money raised will help fund their annual project, the creation of scrap books to be given to the senior members of the football team at the end of the season.
