Helen Roesch

Helen Marie Carter Roesch, 84, of rural Galion, died Mon­day, August 20, 2012 peace­fully at home sur­rounded by fam­ily after a brief illness.

Helen was born in East Spring­field, PA on Feb­ru­ary 24, 1928 to the late Leroy Edward Carter and the late Flo­rence Merle Jones Carter Mackey. She mar­ried F. Eugene Roesch on Novem­ber 24, 1946 in Iberia United Methodist Church, Iberia and he pre­ceded her in death.

Helen grad­u­ated from Mar­tel High School in 1946. She was employed by Pro­duc­ers Live­stock for 51 years in Mar­ion, Bucyrus and Marysville as an Assis­tant Office Worker; a Cashier for auc­tion­eer Harold Pfeifer, and a Wash­ing­ton Town­ship Trustee in Mor­row County for 14 years. Helen was a mem­ber of the Order of East­ern Star Chap­ter #3 Bucyrus and for­merly of Mount Gilead and Galion Chap­ters Order of East­ern Star, Iberia United Methodist Church and the Iberia Mother’s Club. She was a home­maker and a ded­i­cated farmer’s wife. Helen enjoyed being with fam­ily and attend­ing all their activ­i­ties and mow­ing the yard. She made the best baked beans in Mor­row County. She had a car­ing per­son­al­ity and never met a stranger.

She is sur­vived by her three daugh­ters and son: Car­olyn Roesch Carter, Galion, Bob & Terri Roesch, Galion, Trish & Mike Tracey, New Wash­ing­ton and Katie Roesch, Galion; grand­chil­dren: Andy and wife, Rachel Roesch, Muncie, IN; Ash­ley and hus­band, Jim Ellashek, Colum­bus, Lisa Tracey, Galion and Jill and hus­band, Chris Weber, Ocean­side, CA; great grand­chil­dren, Ander­son Jesse Roesch and James Edward Ellashek III.

She was pre­ceded in death by three broth­ers and a sis­ter: Dick Carter, Doris Wake Graff, Leroy Carter and Chuck Carter.

Friends may call Thurs­day from 3:00–5:00 and 7:00–9:00 p.m. at the Mark A. Schnei­der Funeral Home, Galion. Funeral ser­vices will be held at 10:00 am on Fri­day, August 24, 2012 at Iberia United Methodist Church, Iberia, with Rev. Pat Fruth offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial will fol­low at Iberia Ceme­tery, Iberia.

Memo­r­ial con­tri­bu­tions may be made to Iberia United Methodist Church, Iberia or the Donor’s Choice in care of the funeral home.
