Ralph H. Mosher

Ralph H. Mosher, age 89, of Marengo died Sat­ur­day morn­ing August 18, 2012 in the Mor­row County Hos­pi­tal. He was born the eldest child of Harold Har­lan and Phama Edith ( Cox ) Mosher on Sept. 22, 1922 in West­field, Indiana.

Ralph served in the U.S. Navy dur­ing World War II in the South Pacific. After the Navy, Ralph returned to his job as a baker at the Gandee Bak­ery in Card­ing­ton. He and his wife Mary pur­chased their farm near Ful­ton in 1949 and in 1955 Ralph began work­ing at the Whirlpool Cor­po­ra­tion in Mar­ion. He was hired as the 100th employee at Whirlpool and retired from there in 1990 after work­ing for 35 years.

Ralph joined the Ful­ton United Methodist Church in 1951 and also had been a mem­ber of the Mor­row County Farm Bureau and the Marengo Amer­i­can Legion Post. His great­est love was help­ing his wife Mary as she ran for and then car­ried out her duties as a Mor­row County Com­mis­sioner. He looked for­ward to the Mor­row County Fair where he was able to talk to “every­one” and enjoy his twice daily “Auggie’s Bratwurst” sand­wich. ( He always told Mary “ I only had one!” )

On August 27, 1949 in the Williamsport Evan­gel­i­cal United Brethren Church, Ralph mar­ried the for­mer Mary Mar­garet Smith. Together they enjoyed 62 years of mar­riage prior to Mary’s death on March 16, 2011.

Ralph is sur­vived by one brother, Robert Mosher of Find­lay and nieces and nephews.

In addi­tion to his wife and par­ents, Ralph was pre­ceded in death by two broth­ers, Charles and James Mosher and one sis­ter, Rosellen Taylor.

The funeral ser­vice for Ralph will be held on Tues­day, August 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gompf Funeral Home in Card­ing­ton. Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home one hour prior to the funeral ser­vice begin­ning at 11:00 AM on Mon­day morn­ing. Chap­lin Dave Matoes of Hos­pice of Mor­row County will offi­ci­ate and the bur­ial will be in the Shauck Ceme­tery with mil­i­tary honors.
