Ralph H. Mosher
Ralph H. Mosher, age 89, of Marengo died Saturday morning August 18, 2012 in the Morrow County Hospital. He was born the eldest child of Harold Harlan and Phama Edith ( Cox ) Mosher on Sept. 22, 1922 in Westfield, Indiana.
Ralph served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. After the Navy, Ralph returned to his job as a baker at the Gandee Bakery in Cardington. He and his wife Mary purchased their farm near Fulton in 1949 and in 1955 Ralph began working at the Whirlpool Corporation in Marion. He was hired as the 100th employee at Whirlpool and retired from there in 1990 after working for 35 years.
Ralph joined the Fulton United Methodist Church in 1951 and also had been a member of the Morrow County Farm Bureau and the Marengo American Legion Post. His greatest love was helping his wife Mary as she ran for and then carried out her duties as a Morrow County Commissioner. He looked forward to the Morrow County Fair where he was able to talk to “everyone” and enjoy his twice daily “Auggie’s Bratwurst” sandwich. ( He always told Mary “ I only had one!” )
On August 27, 1949 in the Williamsport Evangelical United Brethren Church, Ralph married the former Mary Margaret Smith. Together they enjoyed 62 years of marriage prior to Mary’s death on March 16, 2011.
Ralph is survived by one brother, Robert Mosher of Findlay and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ralph was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and James Mosher and one sister, Rosellen Taylor.
The funeral service for Ralph will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home one hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM on Monday morning. Chaplin Dave Matoes of Hospice of Morrow County will officiate and the burial will be in the Shauck Cemetery with military honors.
