Clarence Slone

Clarence Slone, 77, of 7326 State Route 19 Unit 0903, Mount Gilead, died Thurs­day, Sep­tem­ber 20, 2012 at his home after a long bat­tle with cancer.

Clarence was born in Pikeville, KY on June 8, 1935 to the late James and Nancy (Mur­phy) Slone. He mar­ried Shirley E. Rutan on Novem­ber, 8, 1955 and she sur­vives him.

He was employed as a Plumber until retire­ment in 1998, belong­ing to the Plumber & Pipe Fit­ter Local #42, Nor­walk. He was the for­mer owner of Sum­mit Street Car­ry­out, Galion and he also owned and oper­ated 13 Car­ry­out in Green­wich. He was a mem­ber of Mar­ion Masonic Lodge #70 F. & A.M. Clarence loved fish­ing. He was a NASCAR fan, espe­cially of Dale Earn­hardt, Sr. & Jr. He was an avid hunter; who also enjoyed golf­ing, mush­room hunt­ing and turkey shoots.

He is sur­vived by his five sons: Clarence Dale & Brenda Slone of Dou­glas, GA; Jeff & Carla Slone of Mt. Gilead; Perry & Cathy Slone of Find­lay; Carl Slone of Bucyrus and Wes Slone of New Lon­don; ten grand­chil­dren; twenty great-grandchildren and numer­ous nieces and nephews.

He was pre­ceded in death by his twelve broth­ers and sisters.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sun­day, Sep­tem­ber 23, 2012 at the Mark A. Schnei­der Funeral Home, Galion. Grave­side ser­vices will be held at 11 a.m. on Mon­day, Sep­tem­ber 24, 2012 at North Fork Ceme­tery, Fred­er­ick­town with Rev. Bran­don Quail officiating.
