Knights, MG fall to league foes
By ROB HAMILTON
Northmor got out to a strong start against Buckeye Valley on Friday, but couldn’t hold on in a 28–12 loss to the Barons.
The Knights scored twice in the first quarter, getting an 82-yard fumble return by Garrett Rowan and a five-yard run by Tyler Beck to take a 12–0 lead after 12 minutes.
Unfortunately for Northmor, they would not be able to hold that lead. Buckeye Valley scored on a short run in the second quarter to cut the Knight lead to 12–7 and then added two more touchdowns in the third period to take a nine-point lead.
They would then add seven more points in the fourth quarter to finish off the game.
Knight quarterback Zach Carroll completed 10 passes for 35 yards in the game, with Mitchell Whisler catching two for 18 yards. On the ground, Tyler Beck ran for 28.
Mount Gilead Indians
In a game shortened due to thunderstorms, Mount Gilead fell to Pleasant 35–6 on Friday.
The Spartans scored twice in the first period to take a 14–0 lead before the Indians got a touchdown on a seven-yard run by Tyler Bashaw to close within an eight-point margin.
Pleasant would respond, though, getting a 40-yard touchdown pass from Colin Wood to Devlin McDaniel to move in front by a 21–6 margin at the half.
The Spartans would then add two touchdowns in the third quarter before the game was called due to the weather.
