Morrow County Fair bakers win big at pie auction

The grand cham­pion pie, a ‘Mil­lion­aire Pie,’ was baked by Dave Smith and pur­chased for $200 by the Mor­row County Republicans.

The annual pie auc­tion at the Mor­row County Fair gen­er­ated a total of $2,405 with one half of that money directed to the Arts and Crafts Build­ing and the other half given to the Mor­row County Junior Fair Build­ing Fund

The grand cham­pion pie, a “Mil­lion­aire Pie,” was baked by David Smith and pur­chased for $200 by the Mor­row County Repub­li­cans. The reserve cham­pion pie, a triple berry, was baked by Jean­nette Kin­caid and pur­chased by the Mor­row County Pork Pro­duc­ers, rep­re­sented by Cas­sady Neviska and Rea­gan Neviska, for $125.

The Grand Cham­pion Cake, an Oreo Mint Choco­late Cake, baked by Kathy Rogers sold to the Mor­row County Repub­li­cans for $175.00.

Katy Hall baked the reserve cham­pion cake, a Red Vel­vet cake, and it was pur­chased by Judge Howard Hall for $125.

The Children’s Grand Cham­pion cake, a Checker­board, was baked by Hunter Eliz­a­beth Elswick (left). The reserve cham­pi­oin cake, a red vel­vet, was baked by Katy Hall (with her sis­ter, Amy Brad­dock, stand­ing in, right).

The grand cham­pion children’s cake was baked by Hunter Eliz­a­beth Elswick (Elswick Farms). The checker­board cake was pur­chased by KG Con­ces­sions for $100. Amanda Kincaid’s choco­late cake with peanut but­ter frost­ing won reserve cham­pion and was pur­chased for $200 by the Mor­row County Pork Pro­duc­ers rep­re­sented by Cas­sady Neviska and Rea­gan Neviska.

Oth­ers buy­ing pies were “In mem­ory of Stoops by Matuch,” Chester Arbor of Glean­ers Fra­ter­nal Life Insur­ance, Schlea­gle, Full of Bologna (2), Judge Howard Hall (2), Weiler Farms (3), Char­lie Howard, Mar­cello Cutrupi, M & K Farm Ser­vice; Strain, Peak, Creswell Auc­tion, Sears Emer­son fam­ily, Eichorn Farms (2), Mor­row County Cat­tle­men Asso­ci­a­tion (2), Brad and Kim Hes­sey, Pas­try Mill, Mayor Mike Porter, Law office of Don Wick, K & B Con­ces­sions, Dwain Peak, Mor­row County Pork Pro­duc­ers (5) and Mor­row County Democ­rats (2).

The fol­low­ing per­sons baked pies that placed first, sec­ond or third and were sold dur­ing the auc­tion: June Hawk, Vickie McK­in­ney, Jayne Rum­mer, Kathy Rogers, Beth Ann Watkeys, Melissa Fraizer, Alice Wright, Pam Fra­zier, Sheryl Bai­ley, Kathy Lin­st­edt fam­ily, Lynn Fraizer, Wil­low Creek Farm, Jeanette Kin­caid, Rocks fam­ily, Char­lotte Bene­dict, Shadel fam­ily, Leah Monk, Tammy Han­son, Hai­ley Moore and Elswick Farms.

Auc­tion­eers were Bill Creswell, Bran­don Strain and Dwain Peak.

Orga­niz­ing the pie auc­tion were Cathy Davis, Sue Beck and Kathy Eichorn.
