Mount Gilead CC teams sweep County Meet races
Mount Gilead swept the team titles at last Tuesday’s Morrow County Cross Country Meet, hosted by Northmor.
The boys’ team cruised to the victory, finishing with 28 points to Cardington’s 60. Northmor placed third with 71, while Highland tallied 80.
Tyler Beck placed second in 17:37.8 to lead the Indians, while Jason Heacock was fourth in 17:57.5. Josh Wooddell placed sixth in 18:31.3 and Paul Melcher ran seventh in 19:16.8.
Logan Chapman was ninth in 19:21.8, Grant Picker took 10th in 19:33.9 and Camden West ran 11th in 19.34.9 to round out the team’s top seven.
Also, Branson West was 13th, Nic Pomeroy ran 14th, Kyle Ciballi took 17th, Ethan Hatfield claimed 18th, Nick Middaugh placed 19th, Tim Williams took 20th, John Wallis placed 24th, Michael Lashley ran 26th and Kenton Picker took 28th place.
Cardington was led by race champion Jacob Long, who finished in 17:27.7. Mitch Yake followed in fifth place with a time of 18:16.4.
Mike Queener placed 22nd in 21:22.9 and Josh Queener took 25th in 22:10.3. Jared Gandelot got 29th place in 23:27.5, Matt Queener was 30th in 23:53.9 and Clayton Cain ran 34th in 26:38.9. Also, Alex Elam placed 35th.
Leading third-place Northmor was Joe Vitte, who ran 12th in 19:39.4. Jacob Hill took 15th in 20:01.4 and Andrew Stiver was 16th in 20:04.7.
Chris Stiver ran 21st in 21:02.8, Clint Crose took 23rd in 21:29.5, Matt Kimes was 31st in 25:02.4 and Jon Pfister ran 32nd in 25:15.2.
Also, Rodney Goodman placed 37th and Mike Adams took 38th.
Highland’s Luke Ebersole claimed third place in 17:53.4 and Josh Irvin ran eighth in 19:20.9.
Kevin Jones took 27th in 22:32.2, while Nicolas Parks claimed 33rd in 26:38.3 and Randy Ray placed 36th in 27:27.3.
In the girls’ race, Mount Gilead had seven of the top 10 runners to win with 22 points. Northmor took second with 37, while Highland had 82. Cardington didn’t possess a full team.
Raychel Gress was second overall in 20:27.3 to pace the Indians, while Rachel Bush was third in 20:55.5, Jenna Shipman was fourth in 21:13.5 and Bryanna Bolha placed fifth in 21:25.4.
Taryn Chapman ran eighth in 22:44.3. Sophia Friesen placed ninth in 22:49.8 and Kelsey Snyder was 10th in 23:08.1.
Also, Kenzie McKirgan took 14th, Emma Weiss was 25th and Hope Hack placed 27th.
Northmor was led by meet winner Dani Blum, who finished in 20:04.6. Brianna Heminger placed sixth in 22:27.8 and Kendall Fout was seventh in 22:33.7.
Isabelle DiTullio claimed 11th in 23:14.4, while Kayla Duryea was 12th in 23:18.3. Placing 16th in 24:44.5 was Kelly Pope, and Katie Burson took 18th in 25:08.7.
Also, Naomi Heilman was 29th, Mikki Chapman finished 30th, Katlyn Stiver placed 32nd and Kyndall Williams took 34th.
For Highland, Lydia Hockenberry finished 15th in 24:18.6 and Kayla Davies took 17th in 24:59.5. Jena Buchholz finished 20th in 25:33.6, Nichole Carter ran 21st in 26:02, Samantha Thompson finished 22nd in 26:02 and Kathryn Spearman ran 23rd in 26:27.2.
Bethany Porter ran 26th in 28:12.4. Also, Mikayla Robinson was 31st and Brianna Dado placed 33rd.
For Cardington, Shelby Brady took 13th in 23:24.7. Jaelyn Ballard finished 19th in 25:20.6, while MaKenzie Coulter was 24th in 26:42.7 and Shayna Kern took 35th in 44:25.4.
