Born on October 29, 1940, in Revlo, Kentucky, she was the fifth of nine children of the late Hurstle and Truey (Trammel) Stephens. Norma lived in Morrow County for 51 years. She married Chester “Chet” Baxter September 15, 1962, in Revlo, Ky. Norma was a teacher in Goshen, Ohio, and in Chesterville. Norma served as the Franklin Township Clerk for over 25 years.
A woman of faith, Norma was a faithful member of the Pulaskiville Community Bible Church.
Most important to Norma was her family, and she kept close with all of them. She put her family first in every situation and would do anything for them.
Now, Norma is looking forward to her family reunion in Heaven, and she will be patiently waiting with open arms for all of them to join her, with Jesus by her side.
She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband, Chet Baxter of Mount Gilead; two children: Lisa (Les) Jamieson of Mansfield, and Thomas (Rose) Baxter of Sugarcreek, OH three sisters and five brothers: Bernice Hamlin of Florence, KY, Ken (June) Stephens of West Chester, OH, Glenn (Mel) Stephens of Stearns, KY, Ann (Ray) Shoopman of Stearns, KY, Barb (Paul) Meadows of Peebles, OH, Doyle (Vickie) Stephens of Pleasant Plain, OH, Dale (Doris) Stephens of Lake Placid, FL, and Pastor Ronnie (Connie) Stephens of Blanchester, OH; and oodles of nieces and nephews. Surviving are those who have chosen her as their adopted mother and grandmother as well as many special extended family members.
Including her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Willard Hamlin.
Her family will greet from friends from 12–2 p.m. on Saturday September 29th, 2012, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services celebrating her life will follow at 2 p.m., with her youngest brother Pastor Ronnie Stephens and Pastor Gary Kochheiser officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.
