Last Wednesday backers of President Obama came to show their support at the opening of Morrow County’s Obama reelection office located on W. High St. in Mt. Gilead.
The office will be a hub for campaigning for the incumbent president, with volunteers calling households to encourage voters and planning door to door calls on neighbors.
State Director for Obama for America Greg Schultz, emphasized the importance of Ohio in this election, saying, that historically Ohio has always been a crucial state to win.
Jeffrey Lehart, who is running for State Representative for District 87 also shared his personal experience, which included losing his previous job due to the economic crisis. He explained that through new education initiatives, he was able to go back to school, and is now employed at Yutaka. Local volunteers included, Trudy Oliver and Kevin Helman.
Oliver, a Republican voter for 50 years, felt it was important to to be involved in the election, “I feel that President Obama represent 100% of the country.” She also expressed her support of the new Affordable Healthcare Act.
