Rolling Thunder to visit Woodside Village
By Evelyn Long -
Woodside Village Care Center will host a visit by Rolling Thunder on Saturday, October 6, when the cycle riders will make several presentations related to the group’s major focus, the MIA/POW issue.
They will set up for their program at 10 am and will make their presentations at 2 pm. This will include a section of their Viet Nam wall. Paul Cline, chairman of the Memorial Committee with Ohio Chapter 5 of Rolling Thunder, said they will focus their presentations on the POW/MIA issue and these will include a bamboo cage and they will simulate a rescue of prisoners and another will be of a prisoner who “went over the wall.” Cline said the wall will contain the names of 137 men from Ohio listed as missing in action. Families are invited to visit the wall. There will also be a flag folding presentation.
Also hosting the event will be Hospice of Morrow County and the Morrow County Veterans Commission who will recognize the Viet Nam veterans in addition to veterans of all wars.
Cline said their concept is all about the POW-MIA, not only those in the Vietnam War but those who remain missing in all wars.
Rolling Thunder, Inc., is a non-profit organization and everyone donates his or her time because they believe in the POW –MIA issue.
