Sept. 5's Letters to the Editor
Dear Editor,
I attended the Concerned Citizens for Your Safety meeting on Friday, August 24, and learned so much about not only the billboard issue, but about how the process works when trying to work through maters which are of public concern. You would think that situations in which there is clearly a significant safety hazard could be resolved quickly, but you would be wrong.
In this day and age, we seemed to have sacrificed our true concern for each other’s well being in order to profit at others’ expense. This is sad.
Thank you to the members of Concerned Citizens for Your Safety for a very informative evening!
Liz Hart, Cardington
To the Editor,
In a recent letter the writer pointed to a Fox News interview as proof of death panels in The Affordable Care Act. Unfortunately Fox News has their own agenda and cannot be depended upon for truth on political matters. With Google and a few key strokes the story can be debunked.
Facts can be found in many places including The New England Journal of Medicine. According to the writer the supposed death panel is known by another name, The Independent Payment Advisory Board or IPAB. While the board is appointed by The President, it is also subject to confirmation by The Senate not as the writer stated. It is 15 experts including doctors and patient advocates. The IPAB would recommend policies, excluding rationing to Congress to help provide better care at lower cost, and Congress takes the advice or goes a different direction with other consequences. Today prices are set by an independent board of 29 doctors called the RUC. If you are looking to find death panels, look no further than the decision makers at today’s insurance companies.
My advice, don’t look to Fox News for political truth. If you spent your work day with someone who felt it necessary to tell you every day over and over how truthful they were as Fox does, would you believe them?

Dear Editor,
As the school year begins safety on our highways is always a concern. Concerned Citizens for Your Safety is working to inform the citizens of Morrow County about the billboard at the hazardous curve on 42 north of Cardington. Please notify Cardington Township trustees of your concern. Go to our website at www.billboardsafety.org to see the latest updates. Recently we were interviewed by channel 39 from Mansfield this is also viewable at our website.

Mr Mills;
It is not about the number 15 or any other number. It is about the truth. The IPAB is not about rationing and it does have congressional oversight. You said otherwise. So called DEATH PANELS have existed in the free market for many years. Insurance companies have used this model to build profits by cutting coverage to really sick people. Obamacare is not a government takeover, it is the same private insurance companies and the same private doctors and health system. While I can’t personaly understand your hate for President Obama, I do wish you would find substanative reasons. Obamacare is not a rose, but compared to the past it is no skunk.
Jim Clark
Mr. Clark;
Whether it is 15 people, some of whom may be medical and some who may not be, it all boils down to 15 people who will decide the fate of folks, with no real thought of what those folks think or want, to me this equates to DEATH PANELS. You can’t change the smell of a skunk, simply by calling it a rose.
D, Mills
