Bellona "Lonni" Martin

Bellona “Lonni” Martin, age 52, of Mount Gilead, passed away early Monday morning, October 8, 2012, at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville following a three year battle with cancer.

On November 24, 1959, Lonni was born in Bitburg, Germany, the daughter of Wilhelmina “Mickey” De Looy Jones and the late John David “Jack” Jones. In 1976 she graduated from the Upper Hayford Americanized School in England.

Lonni was a long time member of the Harmony United Methodist Church and recently had been attending the Ohio House Church.

For many years, Lonni worked in policy services and the Ohio FAIR Plan in Columbus. Every day she loved going to her job.

Lonni had a great appreciation for the outdoors. She enjoyed going to ball games, whether it was to see the Columbus Clippers or to watch her own children play. The porch swing at her home was one of her favorite places to sit and reflect, along with working in her garden. She loved listening to music too, especially her favorite band, Journey.

Family meant everything to Lonni. She was “Super Mom,” raising three children and providing a loving and caring home for each of them. She felt so honored and blessed to have the opportunity to see all of her children graduate and to get to meet and spend time with her only grandchild.

Even though she was battling her own illness, Lonni always found time to give encouragement to others. All it took was her smile and laugh to light up any room.

Lonni will be dearly missed by her three children: Christopher Rice of Sunbury, Jared Martin of Mount Gilead, Samantha (Andrew) Danser of Sunbury; her grandson, Rian Danser and another grandchild on the way; her mother, Mickey, of Charlotte, NC; three brothers: David Jones of Lexington, Todd (Shannon) Jones of Spokane, WA, Scott (Lucy) Jones of Mount Gilead; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her family will greet friends from 1 – 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services celebrating her life will be held immediately following at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeannie Winters and Pastor Ron Ellyson officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her family to assist her three children.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead is honored to have been chosen to serve Lonni’s family and your private condolences may be expressed to them online by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
