Edward Squires

Edward “Hip­pie” Squires, age 68, of Kill­buck, Ohio passed away Sat­ur­day morn­ing, Octo­ber 27, 2012 at Majora Lane Care Cen­ter, Millers­burg, Ohio fol­low­ing a sud­den illness.

Funeral ser­vices will be 10:00 a.m. Wednes­day at the Alexan­der Funeral Home, Millers­burg, Ohio with Pas­tor Todd Hart­ley officiating.

Bur­ial will be at Sun­ny­side Ceme­tery, Glen­mont, Ohio with Mil­i­tary Rites being con­ducted by the Kill­buck VFW.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tues­day at the funeral home.

Fam­ily sug­gests that memo­r­ial con­tri­bu­tions be made to the National Parkin­son Foun­da­tion, Gift Pro­cess­ing Cen­ter, P.O. Box 5018, Hager­stown, MD 21741.

He was born May 16, 1944 in Galion, Ohio and was the son of Don­ald and Ilena (Gre­gory) Squires. On May 26, 1989 he mar­ried Bev­erly Gal­lion and she pre­ceded him in death on May 13, 2008.

Edward was a 1962 grad­u­ate of Chester­ville High School. He was a vet­eran of the US Army. He worked for Briar Hill Stone of Glen­mont, Ohio. Edward was a mem­ber of the Kill­buck VFW and the Loudonville Legion. He enjoyed fish­ing, hunt­ing and being outdoors.

Sur­viv­ing are his mother, Ilena Squires of Chester­ville, Ohio; one son, Bill (Nicole) Dials of Millers­burg, Ohio, 2 daugh­ters; Becky Baum­berger and Kim­berly (Keith) Allen both of Mans­field, Ohio, 11 grand­chil­dren, a brother, Harry Squires of Chester­ville, Ohio, 3 step-brothers; Charles (Bon­nie) Stur­geon of Marengo, Ohio, James (Elda) Stur­geon of Mans­field, Ohio and Alan (Linda) Squires of Grove City, PA, one uncle, Max Gre­gory of Desert Hot Springs, CA, and sev­eral nieces and nephews.

He was pre­ceded in death by his wife and his father, Donald.
