MC Hospital Primary Care Center opens in Cardington

Superla­tive adjec­tives were the norm when vis­i­tors toured the new Mor­row County Hos­pi­tal Pri­mary Care, Card­ing­ton, on Wednes­day, Sep­tem­ber 26.

It’s beau­ti­ful,” “It’s so big,” “It’s great for Card­ing­ton, great for Mor­row County,” were just a few of the com­ments heard from many of the 175 peo­ple attend­ing the event.

The great­est ben­e­fi­cia­ries will be those who become patients at the facility.

Greet­ing the vis­i­tors was Dr. Bill Adding­ton, DO, who will be the staff physi­cian at the cen­ter. Stand­ing along side him was his wife, Diane (Arnold) Adding­ton, a Card­ing­ton native.

The rib­bon cut­ting cer­e­mony for­mally opened the facil­ity. Briefly speak­ing were Chris Truax, CEO of the Mor­row County Hos­pi­tal, who said “This is a very excit­ing project for the hos­pi­tal, for Card­ing­ton, for Mor­row County and for Bill and Diane. It’s been a great col­lab­o­ra­tion effort with Jack (Hull) and Dave (Decker).” Truax thanked all who helped in achiev­ing the cen­ter includ­ing board members.

Mayor Susie Pey­ton said “It is with great plea­sure that I wel­come Dr. Adding­ton and Diane. Thank you Jack and Dave for mak­ing this pos­si­ble. Boy, are we glad you are here!”

Dr. Adding­ton responded by thank­ing every­one and said he antic­i­pated get­ting things under­way for Card­ing­ton and the community.

Vis­i­tors viewed the five exam rooms, one pro­ce­dure room, a lab draw sta­tion, one con­fer­ence room; recep­tion area and wait­ing room. There is also a nurse’s work area.

Decker said the build­ing was pur­chased ear­lier this year in March and work began in June. “We used all local con­trac­tors in ren­o­vat­ing the 3500 square foot build­ing,” he said, nam­ing Henry Elec­tric, Lev­er­ing Broth­ers, AC Bosh Elec­tric, My Floors floor­ing out of Galion; and Steve’s Paint­ing, Mount Gilead .

Among those com­ment­ing were Lisa Mur­ray, Direc­tor of the CArd­ing­ton Pub­lic Library, who said “I’m very impressed — it’s a big­ger facil­ity than I thought.”

Pat Drouhard, Card­ing­ton, retired super­in­ten­dent of the Cardington-Lincoln Schools, said “It’s great for Cardington.

Dave Jack­son, Can­dle­wood Lake and a mem­ber of the Mor­row County Cham­ber of Com­merce, said “we’ve had a spe­cial inter­est in attract­ing busi­ness to south­ern Mor­row County — there is a lot of com­mu­nity sup­port for this.”

Refresh­ments were served to those attend­ing the open house.

The MCH Pri­mary Care Cen­ter is located at 116 East Main Street. Staff mem­bers in addi­tion to Dr. Adding­ton, include Diane Adding­ton, LPN; Tra­cie Atkin­son, MA; and Jodi Baer, receptionist.

The office for­mally opened Octo­ber 1. Dr. Adding­ton will see patients who are 14 years of age and older. The office can be reached by call­ing 419–864-4440 or by vis­it­ing the web site www.morrowcountyhospital.com.
