MC Hospital Primary Care Center opens in Cardington
By Evelyn Long –
Superlative adjectives were the norm when visitors toured the new Morrow County Hospital Primary Care, Cardington, on Wednesday, September 26.
“It’s beautiful,” “It’s so big,” “It’s great for Cardington, great for Morrow County,” were just a few of the comments heard from many of the 175 people attending the event.
The greatest beneficiaries will be those who become patients at the facility.
Greeting the visitors was Dr. Bill Addington, DO, who will be the staff physician at the center. Standing along side him was his wife, Diane (Arnold) Addington, a Cardington native.
The ribbon cutting ceremony formally opened the facility. Briefly speaking were Chris Truax, CEO of the Morrow County Hospital, who said “This is a very exciting project for the hospital, for Cardington, for Morrow County and for Bill and Diane. It’s been a great collaboration effort with Jack (Hull) and Dave (Decker).” Truax thanked all who helped in achieving the center including board members.
Mayor Susie Peyton said “It is with great pleasure that I welcome Dr. Addington and Diane. Thank you Jack and Dave for making this possible. Boy, are we glad you are here!”
Dr. Addington responded by thanking everyone and said he anticipated getting things underway for Cardington and the community.
Visitors viewed the five exam rooms, one procedure room, a lab draw station, one conference room; reception area and waiting room. There is also a nurse’s work area.
Decker said the building was purchased earlier this year in March and work began in June. “We used all local contractors in renovating the 3500 square foot building,” he said, naming Henry Electric, Levering Brothers, AC Bosh Electric, My Floors flooring out of Galion; and Steve’s Painting, Mount Gilead .
Among those commenting were Lisa Murray, Director of the CArdington Public Library, who said “I’m very impressed — it’s a bigger facility than I thought.”
Pat Drouhard, Cardington, retired superintendent of the Cardington-Lincoln Schools, said “It’s great for Cardington.
Dave Jackson, Candlewood Lake and a member of the Morrow County Chamber of Commerce, said “we’ve had a special interest in attracting business to southern Morrow County — there is a lot of community support for this.”
Refreshments were served to those attending the open house.
The MCH Primary Care Center is located at 116 East Main Street. Staff members in addition to Dr. Addington, include Diane Addington, LPN; Tracie Atkinson, MA; and Jodi Baer, receptionist.
