Meningitis outbreak toll: 137 cases, 12 deaths

An out­break of fun­gal menin­gi­tis has been linked to steroid shots for back pain. The med­ica­tion, made by a spe­cialty phar­macy in Mass­a­chu­setts, has been recalled.

Ill­nesses: 137

Deaths: 12

States: 10; Florida, Indi­ana, Mary­land, Michi­gan, Min­nesota, New Jer­sey, North Car­olina, Ohio, Ten­nessee and Virginia.
