An early morning traffic stop in Cardington resulted in a pursuit that ended 13 miles later in northern Morrow County Monday.

Cardington Police Chief Robert C. Huston said Officer Mark Calicoat attempted a traffic stop on a speeding on a driver on Gilead Street about 5:30 a.m. October 8. The driver would not stop and a pursuit ensued. The driver was finally apprehended when he failed to negotiate the curve at S.R. 61 and S.R. 309.

The Mount Gilead Police Department, Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, and Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted in the pursuit, which revealed the vehicle had been stolen in Marion County.

The driver’s name is being withheld pending charges being filed with the prosecutor’s office.
