Rain doesn’t dampen Big Walnut Poker Run
Despite the rainy weather on September 8th, several riders brought their motorcycles to the first Big Walnut Joint Fire District Poker Run and Hog Roast.
The Poker Run was an 80 mile round trip that took the riders by each of the five Fire/EMS stations in Morrow County. The riders were asked to stop by each station and take a picture of the firehouse to receive their playing cards when they returned. All riders received a door prize (donated by Morrow County Health Dept.), 5 playing cards, raffle ticket and a meal with their entry fee. The top three winning hands received a Poker Run plaque donated by Morrow County House of Trophies.
After the Poker Run, BWJFD invited riders and the community to a Hog Roast dinner and raffle. Mean Beans 4-H Club Member, Bryce Schott, offered to let the Fire Department buy his extra fair hog for the hog roast dinner. Firefighters Jake Rutherford, Dan Huddleston, Josh Kovacs and Chief Ray Baker went to the Morrow County Fair to purchase ” Bitts” the hog from Bryce and his parents Aaron and Gloria. Dee-Jays’s Custom Butchering in Fredericktown donated the slaughtering of the hog.
