Raymond H. Auld

Ray­mond H. “Tater” Auld, age 80, Cale­do­nia, passed away peace­fully at home on Sun­day, Octo­ber 28, 2012.

On May 18, 1932, Ray­mond was born in Mar­ion County, the son of the late Earl and Thelma (Shirk) Auld. He grad­u­ated from Clar­i­don High School in the Class of 1950.

Shortly fol­low­ing grad­u­a­tion, Tater proudly served in the U.S. Army, a vet­eran of the Korean Conflict.

Dur­ing a fur­lough, Tater returned home to Mar­ion to marry his class­mate and high school sweet­heart, Doris Den­zer, on Jan­u­ary 2, 1953.

For 37 years, Tater worked as a con­struc­tion super­vi­sor for G.T.E. In his retire­ment, he ran his own stump removal ser­vice for nearly 20 years.

Tater was a mem­ber of the Mar­ion Salem United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post 7201 and Amer­i­can Legion Post 401 of Cale­do­nia. He enjoyed watch­ing both Men‚s and Women‚s Ohio State Bas­ket­ball teams.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Doris Auld of Cale­do­nia; a son, Ron (Kim) Auld of Edi­son; a daugh­ter, Kanda Irey (Dale Had­dad) of Cale­do­nia; three grand­chil­dren: Ash­ley Auld of Mar­ion, Amber Auld of Mount Gilead, and Cameron Irons of West­er­ville; two step-grandchildren: Kris­ten (Eric) Holmes and Phillip Had­dad; and 2 great-grandchildren: Quintin and Daw­son Pierce of Mount Gilead. Also, will be missed by his dog, Harley.

The Auld fam­ily will greet friends from 10 a.m. to Noon on Fri­day, Novem­ber 2, 2012, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Sny­der Funeral Home, 360 E. Cen­ter St., Mar­ion. Ser­vices hon­or­ing his life will fol­low there at Noon, with Rev. James Van­Meter and Pas­tor Wes Craker offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial with mil­i­tary hon­ors pro­vided by the Mar­ion County United Vet­er­ans Coun­cil will fol­low in Clar­i­don Cemetery.

Memo­r­ial con­tri­bu­tions may be made to the Dia­betes Asso­ci­a­tion, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
