Anna Levering

Anna Lev­er­ing, 87, of Mans­field died Fri­day, Novem­ber 23, 2012 at Kingston of Ashland.

She was born in Mans­field, Ohio on Feb­ru­ary 1, 1925 to William and Dora (Uhlig) Nacke, who came to this coun­try on their hon­ey­moon in 1921 from Dres­den, Ger­many and set­tled in Plask­iville, Ohio before mov­ing to Mans­field. She attended Mans­field Senior High School and was a 40 year employee of White-Westinghouse where she held many posi­tions. While work­ing on the roaster line, a gold roaster was sent to the 1939–1940 Worlds Fair in New York City, accom­pa­nied by Elec­tro the 7 ft., 300 lb. robot and his dog Sparko. In 1943 she was a “Rosie the Riv­eter” and worked on B 52 air­craft. She was one of the last peo­ple to tour the West­ing­house plant before it closed. She also bowled on the West­ing­house team.

Anna was a mem­ber of the Crest­line Church of Christ, Vet­er­ans Asso­ci­a­tion, and 7–11 IEU where she held a retire­ment party at the Union hall in 1984. She also liked to square dance and met her hus­band, Ken­neth, there. They were mar­ried Sep­tem­ber 23, 1949.

Anna and Ken­neth also worked on their farm until the early 1960’s. Anna liked to enter­tain peo­ple and take them out for lun­cheons, work cross-word puz­zles, be with her chil­dren, and enjoyed vis­its from her grand­chil­dren. An avid Chris­t­ian, she took her chil­dren to church to learn about our Sav­ior, Jesus Christ. She was active in Bible School, and donat­ing food for meals.

She was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents, step-mother Mary (Holda) Nacke, hus­band Ken­neth Lev­er­ing, Sr., broth­ers Heinz Nacke and John Nacke, and sis­ter Sally Wohlgezogen.

She is sur­vived by sons, Keith (Susan), and Ken­neth Jr. (Betty) of Mans­field, and Rick (Marcy) of Cincin­nati; six grand­chil­dren, Matthew, Aaron (Tia), twins Tim (Terri) and Steve (Beth), Jared (Heidi) and Ruth Ann Lev­er­ing who was named after her grand­moth­ers; seven great grand­chil­dren, Chris­t­ian, Andrew, Caleb, Luke, Tyler, Ryan and Molly Levering.

A memo­r­ial ser­vice will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Mon­day, Decem­ber 3, 2012 at the Crest­line Church of Christ with Min­is­ter Ray Linn offi­ci­at­ing. Inter­ment will be at a later date in the Lev­er­ing Ceme­tery, Knox County. In lieu of flow­ers, memo­r­ial con­tri­bu­tions may be made to the Crest­line Church of Christ or Franklin Town­ship Fire Depart­ment.
