She was born in Mansfield, Ohio on February 1, 1925 to William and Dora (Uhlig) Nacke, who came to this country on their honeymoon in 1921 from Dresden, Germany and settled in Plaskiville, Ohio before moving to Mansfield. She attended Mansfield Senior High School and was a 40 year employee of White-Westinghouse where she held many positions. While working on the roaster line, a gold roaster was sent to the 1939–1940 Worlds Fair in New York City, accompanied by Electro the 7 ft., 300 lb. robot and his dog Sparko. In 1943 she was a “Rosie the Riveter” and worked on B 52 aircraft. She was one of the last people to tour the Westinghouse plant before it closed. She also bowled on the Westinghouse team.
Anna was a member of the Crestline Church of Christ, Veterans Association, and 7–11 IEU where she held a retirement party at the Union hall in 1984. She also liked to square dance and met her husband, Kenneth, there. They were married September 23, 1949.
Anna and Kenneth also worked on their farm until the early 1960’s. Anna liked to entertain people and take them out for luncheons, work cross-word puzzles, be with her children, and enjoyed visits from her grandchildren. An avid Christian, she took her children to church to learn about our Savior, Jesus Christ. She was active in Bible School, and donating food for meals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Mary (Holda) Nacke, husband Kenneth Levering, Sr., brothers Heinz Nacke and John Nacke, and sister Sally Wohlgezogen.
She is survived by sons, Keith (Susan), and Kenneth Jr. (Betty) of Mansfield, and Rick (Marcy) of Cincinnati; six grandchildren, Matthew, Aaron (Tia), twins Tim (Terri) and Steve (Beth), Jared (Heidi) and Ruth Ann Levering who was named after her grandmothers; seven great grandchildren, Christian, Andrew, Caleb, Luke, Tyler, Ryan and Molly Levering.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012 at the Crestline Church of Christ with Minister Ray Linn officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Levering Cemetery, Knox County. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Crestline Church of Christ or Franklin Township Fire Department.
