Thru Dec. — State Park Light Display — The Mount Gilead State Park VIPs have the park ready for a beautiful evening drive through thousands of lights and decorations. This free display in a peaceful setting will be available during the month of December and will be a favorite place for many to enjoy the season, but escape the frenzy that sometimes surrounds it.
Thru Dec. 17 — Sheriff’s Toy Drive - The Morrow County Sheriff’s office is holding their Annual Toy Drive. All new, unwrapped toys for kids of all ages will be collected and the toys will be distributed to children in Morrow County.
You may drop off toys in the lobby of the sheriff’s office. All toys must be received by Dec. 17, 2012.
Thru Dec. 20 — Edison Baptist Toy Drive — The Edison Enterprise Baptist Church Food Pantry is sponsoring a Toy Drive from now until Dec. 20.
Mt. Gilead locations for new toys are: Autozone, NAPA, Dollar General, Edison Depot, Discount Drug Mart, Mary K’s Flower Shop, Morrow County Community Center, the EEBC Food Pantry at 3055 SR 95, Edison and the Towne Pump. In Cardington, toys can be dropped off at Dollar General, Susie Q’s, and Cardington Tru-Value.
Toys will be distributed Dec. 21 to children that come through the food pantry. Santa will be there. Help us put a smile on a child’s face!
Dec. 1 — Christmas Open House at Library — Perry Cook Memorial Library, Johnsville, would like to invite you to come to our Christmas Open House on Saturday, Dec. 1st from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
We will have “make and take a craft” for adults and children, picture with Santa, and refreshments.

Dec. 1 — Cookie Walk at Marengo UMC - A Christmas Craft Show and Cookie Walk will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. — 3 p.m. at the Marengo United Methodist Church, 8 N. Main St. in Marengo.
Breakfast and lunch will be available as well as great Christmas gifts and cookies, free parking and admission and pictures with Santa!
Dec. 1 — Sparta UM 5K run — Sparta United Methodist Church is holding a “Hebrews 12:5K Run” fundraiser event Saturday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. The course will be a cross-country style course and will encompass the town of Sparta, Highland Schools and Highland Community Park. Walkers are welcome.
There is an entry fee for adults is $20, students $10, and a family of four or more $50. Prizes awarded to top three finishers. 100 percent of proceeds go to fund a mission trip for the youth of SUMC. T-Shirts are available for $5 for the first 25 to register. Sparta UMC is at 22 N. Dec. 1, 2 — Photos with Santa — The Morrow County Humane Society is hosting their annual Pet Portraits and Family Portraits — available with or without Santa — at the Mt. Gilead Fire Station Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2.
A CD will be created immediately after photos have been taken. You may create printed photos and Christmas cards at home or may take the CD to your local print shop or full– service drug store for processing. We will not be creating framed portraits or Christmas cards at this event. The CD cost is $15. Cash or Check Only — No Credit/Debit Cards Accepted
Photos will be taken at the Mt. Gilead Fire Station, 72 West High Street (Behind Municipal Bldg.) Please use the rear entrance facing North Street.
Times: Saturday, December 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. All Proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Morrow County.
Dec. 6 — Christmas Dinner and Auction — You can help Morrow County students prepare for their futures! Please join us for the Morrow County Association of Business Women Christmas Dinner & Auction, benefiting Morrow County Student Scholarship Fund. Dec. 7 — Christmas Bake Sale - Edison United Methodist will hold their Annual Christmas Bake Sale, Friday, Dec. 7, 8:30 a.m. — 3:00 p.m. with lunch served 11–1, and Saturday, Dec. 8th, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The church is located at 335 Boundary Street, Edison, Ohio.
Items for the sale are: Baked Goods, Mincemeat, Cookie Trays, Candies, Fruit Cakes, Potato Salad, Chicken & Noodles, Beef Vegetable Soup, Homemade Noodles, Meat Salad, and Canned Beef. A White Elephant Table will be available as well.

Dec. 7, 8 — Christmas in the Village Christmas in the Village is Friday and Saturday, December 7 and 8 this year. The Morrow Little Theatre will have a show at Trinity UMC 75 East High St. Mount Gilead! Dinner at 6:30 p.m and show at 7. Tickets for show and dinner are $12 for adults and $9 for Sr. Citizens and Students. Show ONLY tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for Sr / St. MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR DINNER NO LATER THAN WED. DEC 5! Also, the CIC class at Trinity will have a silent auction of gift baskets at intermission as a way of raising funds to help needy families in our area. LOTS of reasons to join us. Dec. 8 — K of C Second Saturday breakfast Sacred Hearts Knights of Columbus Second Saturday Second Saturday Pancake Breakfast is Dec. 8. This is all all-you-can-eat breakfast for a $5 donation (adults) and $3 donation (kids 12 and under). Proceeds from this breakfast will go to the third annual Sacred Hearts Knights of Columbus Council #14671 Christmas Food Baskets for the needy.
Dec. 8 - PTO Secret Santa — The Park Avenue PTO Santa Secret Shop is planned for December 8 as part of the Christmas Festival downtown from noon – 5 pm. It will be held at the old Bowen Jewelers building. Parents, bring your little ones and have them shop for gifts for all the special people in their lives. Gifts priced from $.25 to $15.00. Dec. 8 — Cross House exhibit — The Morrow County Historical Society Museum will be open on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during Mount Gilead’s Annual Christmas Festival.
The theme of the display is “Dolls Through the Decades”, with a representation of how dolls have changed for each generation. A large Victorian dollhouse will be featured on display, along with a variety of ‘dolls through the decades.’
The Museum is located at 85 East Marion Street in Mount Gilead, and admission is free.
Dec. 8 - Cookie Walk at Williamsport UMC — Williamsport United Methodist Church will hold their annual Cookie Walk Saturday, Dec. 8 from 8 a.m. — Noon. This activity is a tradition at Williamsport Williamsport United Methodist Church. Families bake and donate a variety of Christmas cookies. We spread them out on trays in the church basement, and people go around and choose cookies to buy by the pound at $4.50.
We also have candy and crafts for sale, as well as gently used Christmas decor. We also feature a hospitality table with free coffee, cocoa, and snacks. Come on out for a morning of fun and get your Christmas cookies without having to bake!

Dec. 8 — Mt. Gilead Food Drive — Please help make the holidays happy for those in need. The Mt. Gilead Area Food Drive is to help these four local food pantries: Morrow County Job and Family Services Food Pantry, No Limits Outreach Center, Edison Enterprise Baptist Church, and Trinity United Methodist Church.
These food pantries purchase items through Mid– Ohio Food Bank at a reduced cost, making your cash donations go farther. Non-perishable food items, personal care items, and cash donations will be accepted. Checks may be made payable to the pantry of your choice. Please drop off your donations Saturday, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. — 12 noon at the Mt. Gilead Village Office, 72 W. High Street. From Mayor Mike Porter.
Dec. 8 — Holiday Home Tour - The Mt. Gilead Kiwanis Club is hosting a Holiday Home Tour on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 1–5 p.m. to benefit community service projects. The cost of the tour is $10 per person and includes five homes in Mt. Gilead that will be decorated for the holiday season. Tickets are being sold by Kiwanis members and at First Federal Bank of Ohio in Mt. Gilead, First Knox National Bank, and Sames & Cook. The tour starts at the Morrow County Emergency Services Building, 140 S. Main St., the day of the tour, where tickets will be available. A holiday raffle will also be held.
Dec. 13 — Third Thursday Ashley Dinner — The free Ashley Community Thursday dinner will be held Dec. 13, 2012 in the Fellowship Hall of the Ashley United Methodist Church, 214 East High Street. The dinner will be served from 5 to 6:30 pm and the menu will include meat loaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, sides, dessert and beverage.
The next dinner will be served on January 17, 2013.
Dec. 14. - Benefit Supper for Northmor Students - Chili & Hot Dog Supper with Silent Auction will be held at Northmor High School Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 before the Northmor vs Mt. Gilead Boys’ basketball games.
Doors open At 4:00 p.m. and both the Supper and Silent Auction will end at start of Varsity Game. The Supper is a free-will donation, with proceeds to benefit Northmor students Kylie Hipp and James Welshans with medical expenses and the Kristen Peters Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Dec. 15. — EEBC Christmas Bazaar — Edison Enterprise Baptist Church is holding a Christmas Fundraiser Bazaar Dec. 15, 2012 from 10 a.m. — 4 p.m. at the church. There will be a silent auction, many gift baskets, children’s craft tables, gift wrapping signups, door prizes, and many vendors. Please come and join us in the fun and bring your family and friends!
