Thru Dec. — State Park Light Dis­play — The Mount Gilead State Park VIPs have the park ready for a beau­ti­ful evening drive through thou­sands of lights and dec­o­ra­tions. This free dis­play in a peace­ful set­ting will be avail­able dur­ing the month of Decem­ber and will be a favorite place for many to enjoy the sea­son, but escape the frenzy that some­times sur­rounds it.

Thru Dec. 17 — Sheriff’s Toy Drive - The Mor­row County Sheriff’s office is hold­ing their Annual Toy Drive. All new, unwrapped toys for kids of all ages will be col­lected and the toys will be dis­trib­uted to chil­dren in Mor­row County.
You may drop off toys in the lobby of the sheriff’s office. All toys must be received by Dec. 17, 2012.

Thru Dec. 20 — Edi­son Bap­tist Toy Drive — The Edi­son Enter­prise Bap­tist Church Food Pantry is spon­sor­ing a Toy Drive from now until Dec. 20.
Mt. Gilead loca­tions for new toys are: Auto­zone, NAPA, Dol­lar Gen­eral, Edi­son Depot, Dis­count Drug Mart, Mary K’s Flower Shop, Mor­row County Com­mu­nity Cen­ter, the EEBC Food Pantry at 3055 SR 95, Edi­son and the Towne Pump. In Card­ing­ton, toys can be dropped off at Dol­lar Gen­eral, Susie Q’s, and Card­ing­ton Tru-Value.
Toys will be dis­trib­uted Dec. 21 to chil­dren that come through the food pantry. Santa will be there. Help us put a smile on a child’s face!

Dec. 1 — Christ­mas Open House at Library — Perry Cook Memo­r­ial Library, Johnsville, would like to invite you to come to our Christ­mas Open House on Sat­ur­day, Dec. 1st from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
We will have “make and take a craft” for adults and chil­dren, pic­ture with Santa, and refresh­ments.

Dec. 1 — Cookie Walk at Marengo UMC - A Christ­mas Craft Show and Cookie Walk will be held Sat­ur­day, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. — 3 p.m. at the Marengo United Methodist Church, 8 N. Main St. in Marengo.
Break­fast and lunch will be avail­able as well as great Christ­mas gifts and cook­ies, free park­ing and admis­sion and pic­tures with Santa!

Dec. 1 — Sparta UM 5K run — Sparta United Methodist Church is hold­ing a “Hebrews 12:5K Run” fundraiser event Sat­ur­day, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. The course will be a cross-country style course and will encom­pass the town of Sparta, High­land Schools and High­land Com­mu­nity Park. Walk­ers are wel­come.
There is an entry fee for adults is $20, stu­dents $10, and a fam­ily of four or more $50. Prizes awarded to top three fin­ish­ers. 100 per­cent of pro­ceeds go to fund a mis­sion trip for the youth of SUMC. T-Shirts are avail­able for $5 for the first 25 to reg­is­ter. Dec. 1, 2 — Pho­tos with Santa — The Mor­row County Humane Soci­ety is host­ing their annual Pet Por­traits and Fam­ily Por­traits — avail­able with or with­out Santa — at the Mt. Gilead Fire Sta­tion Sat­ur­day, Dec. 1 and Sun­day, Dec. 2.
A CD will be cre­ated imme­di­ately after pho­tos have been taken. You may cre­ate printed pho­tos and Christ­mas cards at home or may take the CD to your local print shop or full– ser­vice drug store for pro­cess­ing. We will not be cre­at­ing framed por­traits or Christ­mas cards at this event. The CD cost is $15. Cash or Check Only — No Credit/Debit Cards Accepted
Pho­tos will be taken at the Mt. Gilead Fire Sta­tion, 72 West High Street (Behind Munic­i­pal Bldg.) Please use the rear entrance fac­ing North Street.

Dec. 7 — Christ­mas Bake Sale - Edi­son United Methodist will hold their Annual Christ­mas Bake Sale, Fri­day, Dec. 7, 8:30 a.m. — 3:00 p.m. with lunch served 11–1, and Sat­ur­day, Dec. 8th, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The church is located at 335 Bound­ary Street, Edi­son, Ohio.
Items for the sale are: Baked Goods, Mince­meat, Cookie Trays, Can­dies, Fruit Cakes, Potato Salad, Chicken & Noo­dles, Beef Veg­etable Soup, Home­made Noo­dles, Meat Salad, and Canned Beef. A White Ele­phant Table will be avail­able as well.

Dec. 7, 8 — Christ­mas in the Vil­lage Christ­mas in the Vil­lage is Fri­day and Sat­ur­day, Decem­ber 7 and 8 this year. The Mor­row Lit­tle The­atre will have a show at Trin­ity UMC 75 East High St. Mount Gilead! Din­ner at 6:30 p.m and show at 7. Tick­ets for show and din­ner are $12 for adults and $9 for Sr. Cit­i­zens and Stu­dents. Show ONLY tick­ets are $8 for adults and $6 for Sr / St. MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR DINNER NO LATER THAN WED. Dec. 8 — K of C Sec­ond Sat­ur­day break­fast  Sacred Hearts Knights of Colum­bus Sec­ond Sat­ur­day Sec­ond Sat­ur­day Pan­cake Break­fast is Dec. 8. This is all all-you-can-eat break­fast for a $5 dona­tion (adults) and $3 dona­tion (kids 12 and under). Pro­ceeds from this break­fast will go to the third annual Sacred Hearts Knights of Colum­bus Coun­cil #14671 Christ­mas Food Bas­kets for the needy.

Dec. 8 - PTO Secret Santa — The Park Avenue PTO Santa Secret Shop is planned for Decem­ber 8 as part of the Christ­mas Fes­ti­val down­town from noon – 5 pm. It will be held at the old Bowen Jew­el­ers build­ing. Par­ents, bring your lit­tle ones and have them shop for gifts for all the spe­cial peo­ple in their lives. Gifts priced from $.25 to $15.00. Dec. 8 — Cross House exhibit — The Mor­row County His­tor­i­cal Soci­ety Museum will be open on Sat­ur­day, Dec. 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. dur­ing Mount Gilead’s Annual Christ­mas Fes­ti­val.
The theme of the dis­play is “Dolls Through the Decades”, with a rep­re­sen­ta­tion of how dolls have changed for each gen­er­a­tion. A large Vic­to­rian doll­house will be fea­tured on dis­play, along with a vari­ety of ‘dolls through the decades.’
The Museum is located at 85 East Mar­ion Street in Mount Gilead, and admis­sion is free.

Dec. 8 - Cookie Walk at Williamsport UMC — Williamsport United Methodist Church will hold their annual Cookie Walk Sat­ur­day, Dec. 8 from 8 a.m. — Noon. This activ­ity is a tra­di­tion at Williamsport Williamsport United Methodist Church. Fam­i­lies bake and donate a vari­ety of Christ­mas cook­ies. We spread them out on trays in the church base­ment, and peo­ple go around and choose cook­ies to buy by the pound at $4.50.
We also have candy and crafts for sale, as well as gen­tly used Christ­mas decor. We also fea­ture a hos­pi­tal­ity table with free cof­fee, cocoa, and snacks. Come on out for a morn­ing of fun and get your Christ­mas cook­ies with­out hav­ing to bake!

Dec. 8 — Mt. Gilead Food Drive — Please help make the hol­i­days happy for those in need. The Mt. Gilead Area Food Drive is to help these four local food pantries: Mor­row County Job and Fam­ily Ser­vices Food Pantry, No Lim­its Out­reach Cen­ter, Edi­son Enter­prise Bap­tist Church, and Trin­ity United Methodist Church.
These food pantries pur­chase items through Mid– Ohio Food Bank at a reduced cost, mak­ing your cash dona­tions go far­ther. Non-perishable food items, per­sonal care items, and cash dona­tions will be accepted. Checks may be made payable to the pantry of your choice. Please drop off your dona­tions Sat­ur­day, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. — 12 noon at the Mt. Gilead Vil­lage Office, 72 W. High Street. From Mayor Mike Porter.

Dec. 8 — Hol­i­day Home Tour - The Mt. Gilead Kiwa­nis Club is host­ing a Hol­i­day Home Tour on Sat­ur­day, Dec. 8, from 1–5 p.m. to ben­e­fit com­mu­nity ser­vice projects. The cost of the tour is $10 per per­son and includes five homes in Mt. Gilead that will be dec­o­rated for the hol­i­day sea­son. Tick­ets are being sold by Kiwa­nis mem­bers and at First Fed­eral Bank of Ohio in Mt. Gilead, First Knox National Bank, and Sames & Cook. The tour starts at the Mor­row County Emer­gency Ser­vices Build­ing, 140 S. Main St., the day of the tour, where tick­ets will be avail­able. A hol­i­day raf­fle will also be held.

Dec. 13 — Third Thurs­day Ash­ley Din­ner — The free Ash­ley Com­mu­nity Thurs­day din­ner will be held Dec. 13, 2012 in the Fel­low­ship Hall of the Ash­ley United Methodist Church, 214 East High Street. The din­ner will be served from 5 to 6:30 pm and the menu will include meat loaf, mashed pota­toes, gravy, sides, dessert and bev­er­age.
The next din­ner will be served on Jan­u­ary 17, 2013.

Dec. 14. - Ben­e­fit Sup­per for North­mor Stu­dents - Chili & Hot Dog Sup­per with Silent Auc­tion will be held at North­mor High School Fri­day, Dec. 14, 2012 before the North­mor vs Mt. Gilead Boys’ bas­ket­ball games.
Doors open At 4:00 p.m. and both the Sup­per and Silent Auc­tion will end at start of Var­sity Game. The Sup­per is a free-will dona­tion, with pro­ceeds to ben­e­fit North­mor stu­dents Kylie Hipp and James Welshans with med­ical expenses and the Kris­ten Peters Memo­r­ial Schol­ar­ship Fund.

Dec. 15. — EEBC Christ­mas Bazaar — Edi­son Enter­prise Bap­tist Church is hold­ing a Christ­mas Fundraiser Bazaar Dec. 15, 2012 from 10 a.m. — 4 p.m. at the church. There will be a silent auc­tion, many gift bas­kets, children’s craft tables, gift wrap­ping signups, door prizes, and many ven­dors.
