Ethel L. VanDyke

Ethel L. Mitchell Win­ter­mute VanDyke, age 95 of Marengo, died Tues­day morn­ing Octo­ber 30, 2012 at River­side Hos­pi­tal in Colum­bus.
She was born on Jan­u­ary 15, 1917 in Sun­bury to the late William and Zoa (John­son) Mitchell.

Ethel was a fan of the Cincin­nati Reds, a home­maker and had worked for local nurs­ing homes after the death of her first hus­band. Ethel was born and raised on the fam­ily farm on Rose­crans Road and moved to Marengo when she mar­ried in 1946.

She is sur­vived by daugh­ters: Eva (Fred) Criswell of Marengo, Dorothy (Wal­ter) Babbs Saun­ders of Card­ing­ton; 8 grand­chil­dren: Kel­lie (Rob) Bishop, Mary Criswell, Hope Jes­sica Criswell, Sherry (Scott) Sherer, Ron (Lisa) Babbs, Shel­ley (Jeff) Ben­son, Rob (Jes­sica) Babbs, Roger Babbs; 18 great grand­chil­dren; nieces and nephews.

Ethel was pre­ceded in death by her hus­bands: Ronald Win­ter­mute on Novem­ber 14, 1960, Charles Van Dyke on Novem­ber 20, 2000; broth­ers: Cliff, Clay, Pearl, Doc, Golden; sis­ters: Mar­garet Belcher, Freda Bonzo.

Friends may call Thurs­day from 3–7 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sun­bury where ser­vices will be held Fri­day 11 a.m. with Pas­tor Charles Roush offi­ci­at­ing. Inter­ment will fol­low in the Sun­bury Memo­r­ial Park.
