Two Mt. Gilead High School students escaped serious injury in a Friday afternoon accident in Gilead Twp.
The Mt. Gilead Post of the Highway Patrol reports the 17-yr-old driver was southbound on County Road 114 south of County Road 115 when he failed to negotiate a curve and his pickup truck overturned, coming to rest on its top in the middle of the road. The driver and his 16-yr-old passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time and were out of the vehicle when officers arrived. The driver told officers he was giving the passenger a ride home from school.
Medflight transported the passenger to Grant Medical Center in Columbus as a precaution, and the driver was transported by Morrow County EMS to the Morrow County Hospital, then released.
Morrow County EMS, Mt. Gilead Fire Department, the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office and Post 59 of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
