November 14th Letters to the Editor
Dear Editor:
I am a middle school student and a boy scout. Part of being a boy scout is being involved in your community. I have been listening to all of the ads, news stories and debates for the upcoming election. I want to make people aware of things that have happened while President Obama has been in office that are ruining our country. Our national debt has gone from $10 trillion to $16 trillion, and if he stays in office, it will most likely go to $20 trillion. Gas prices have gone from $1.85/gallon to almost $4/gallon throughout his term. He promised to create jobs and improve the economy, but not only is the unemployment rate the same now as it was then, but some of the people who were on unemployment then are no longer looking for work and aren’t even on the records now, so they aren’t part of the numbers. He also made a lot of other promises he didn’t keep. His slogan was “Hope and Change”. The changes he’s made aren’t giving us much hope. Governor Romney has a detailed plan to get our country going in the right direction. His years of business experience, his record of proven success and his love for our country and the people are what we need now. I may only be a student in school, but the decisions made in our government will affect me and my future. I think it is important that kids learn more about what is happening around them, so they can understand what is going on and how it will affect them and their futures. Many people have fought for the rights and benefits we have today. I hope that everyone will make themselves aware of the facts involved with all of the candidates and issues in this election, and that they will exercise their right to vote and have a say in their own future.
Colton Long, Boy Scout and Mt. Gilead student

What a great letter;
Considering the fact that over 50% of adults in the United States were bamboozled by this Socialist, it is really encouraging to know there just might be hope for America, if this young man is an example of the insight that some young folks have.
Thank you Colton !
