Semi meets monument Wednesday afternoon

A semi trav­el­ing through Mount Gilead Nov. 21 appar­ently found nav­i­gat­ing the Vic­tory Shaft mon­u­ment a bit dif­fi­cult. The ensu­ing mishap caused streets to be blocked off for about an hour while author­i­ties work to fix the prob­lem. Ronk’s Tow­ing of Crest­line was called in to assist with mov­ing the tractor-trailer, which was lodged on the steps lead­ing to the shaft.
