Veteran’s Day Events set for Mt. Gilead
Veteran’s Day will be observed in Mt. Gilead on Sunday, November 11, 2012. The sequence of happenings will be as follows:
Beginning at 10:50 a.m., the Welcome and Invocation will be given; Wreaths will be placed at the Victory Shaft by Commanders and Officers of local Veterans’ Organizations and their Auxiliaries; followed by music selections including the National Anthem. A rifle salute and taps will conclude the ceremony.
The Welcome and Invocation will be delivered by Christian Vasquez from the Morrow County Veterans Service Office. Chris is a retired MSgt, he served 21 1/2 years in the US Air Force and is a Gulf War Veteran. He resides in Marengo with his wife, Jada and their two sons, Javier and Jarin.
Placing wreaths for this year’s ceremony will be Charles Popadak, Commander, and Jackie Garrabrant, Auxiliary President of the V.F.W. Nelson E. Campbell, Jr. Post 8054, Mt. Gilead; Earl Gattshall and Betty Ritchey, representing the American Legion; Bobby George, Commander and Brenda Miller, Auxiliary President of the AMVETS Post 87, Mt. Gilead. Music selections, the National Anthem and Taps will be by the Mt. Gilead High School Band, Randy Mann, Director.
The Color Guard and Firing Squad will consist of Morrow County Members of the Nelson E. Campbell, Jr. V.F.W. Post 8054 and the AMVETS Post 87, commanded by Daniel L. Fricke, Coordinator for the 2012 Veterans Day Ceremony.
