Veteran’s Day Events set for Mt. Gilead

Veteran’s Day will be observed in Mt. Gilead on Sun­day, Novem­ber 11, 2012. The sequence of hap­pen­ings will be as follows:

Begin­ning at 10:50 a.m., the Wel­come and Invo­ca­tion will be given; Wreaths will be placed at the Vic­tory Shaft by Com­man­ders and Offi­cers of local Vet­er­ans’ Orga­ni­za­tions and their Aux­il­iaries; fol­lowed by music selec­tions includ­ing the National Anthem. A rifle salute and taps will con­clude the ceremony.

The Wel­come and Invo­ca­tion will be deliv­ered by Chris­t­ian Vasquez from the Mor­row County Vet­er­ans Ser­vice Office. Chris is a retired MSgt, he served 21 1/2 years in the US Air Force and is a Gulf War Vet­eran. He resides in Marengo with his wife, Jada and their two sons, Javier and Jarin.

Plac­ing wreaths for this year’s cer­e­mony will be Charles Popadak, Com­man­der, and Jackie Garrabrant, Aux­il­iary Pres­i­dent of the V.F.W. Nel­son E. Camp­bell, Jr. Post 8054, Mt. Gilead; Earl Gattshall and Betty Ritchey, rep­re­sent­ing the Amer­i­can Legion; Bobby George, Com­man­der and Brenda Miller, Aux­il­iary Pres­i­dent of the AMVETS Post 87, Mt. Gilead. Music selec­tions, the National Anthem and Taps will be by the Mt. Gilead High School Band, Randy Mann, Director.

The Color Guard and Fir­ing Squad will con­sist of Mor­row County Mem­bers of the Nel­son E. Camp­bell, Jr. V.F.W. Post 8054 and the AMVETS Post 87, com­manded by Daniel L. Fricke, Coor­di­na­tor for the 2012 Vet­er­ans Day Ceremony.
