Thru Dec. — State Park Light Dis­play — The Mount Gilead State Park VIPs have the park ready for a beau­ti­ful evening drive through thou­sands of lights and dec­o­ra­tions. This free dis­play in a peace­ful set­ting will be avail­able dur­ing the month of Decem­ber and will be a favorite place for many to enjoy the sea­son, but escape the frenzy that some­times sur­rounds it.

Thru Dec. 17 — Sheriff’s Toy Drive — The Mor­row County Sheriff’s office is hold­ing their Annual Toy Drive. All new, unwrapped toys for kids of all ages will be col­lected and the toys will be dis­trib­uted to chil­dren in Mor­row County.

You may drop off toys in the lobby of the sheriff’s office. All toys must be received by Dec. 17, 2012

Thru Dec. 20 — Edi­son Bap­tist Toy Drive — The Edi­son Enter­prise Bap­tist Church Food Pantry is spon­sor­ing a Toy Drive from now until Dec. 20.

Mt. Gilead loca­tions for new toys are: Auto­zone, NAPA, Dol­lar Gen­eral, Edi­son Depot, Dis­count Drug Mart, Mary K’s Flower Shop, Mor­row County Com­mu­nity Cen­ter, the EEBC Food Pantry at 3055 SR 95, Edi­son and the Towne Pump. In Card­ing­ton, toys can be dropped off at Dol­lar Gen­eral, Susie Q’s, and Card­ing­ton Tru-Value.

Toys will be dis­trib­uted Dec. 21 to chil­dren that come through the food pantry. Santa will be there. Help us put a smile on a child’s face!

Dec. 13 — Third Thurs­day Ash­ley Din­ner — The free Ash­ley Com­mu­nity Thurs­day din­ner will be held Dec. 13, 2012 in the Fel­low­ship Hall of the Ash­ley United Methodist Church, 214 East High Street. The din­ner will be served from 5 to 6:30 pm and the menu will include meat loaf, mashed pota­toes, gravy, sides, dessert and beverage.

The next din­ner will be served on Jan­u­ary 17, 2013.

Dec. 14. — Ben­e­fit Sup­per for North­mor Stu­dents — Chili & Hot Dog Sup­per with Silent Auc­tion will be held at North­mor High School Fri­day, Dec. 14, 2012 before the North­mor vs Mt. Gilead Boys’ bas­ket­ball games.

Doors open At 4:00 p.m. and both the Sup­per and Silent Auc­tion will end at start of Var­sity Game. The Sup­per is a free-will dona­tion, with pro­ceeds to ben­e­fit North­mor stu­dents Kylie Hipp and James Welshans with med­ical expenses and the Kris­ten Peters Memo­r­ial Schol­ar­ship Fund.

Dec. 15 — Santa stop­ping at Post 97 — Jenkins-Vaughan Post 97 of the Amer­i­can Legion will host a visit from Santa Claus on Sat­ur­day, Decem­ber 15, 2012 at the post home, 307 Park Avenue. Santa, who will arrive in the engine of the Card­ing­ton Fire Depart­ment, will greet young­sters from 10 am to noon and each will be given a spe­cial sack of candy. Par­ents or those accom­pa­ny­ing the chil­dren can enjoy cook­ies and cof­fee while waiting.

Dec. 27 — New Year’s Eve Cel­e­bra­tion at Seniors on Cen­ter. All Ages Wel­come from 6 — 9 p.m. Music by Coun­try DJ Ser­vice. Roast Pork Din­ner $10 for mem­bers, $12 for non mem­bers RSVP by Dec. 21 with pay­ment. Come join us for a fun filled evening!

Free Yoga Classes — Free Com­mu­nity Yoga classes! Dona­tions accepted and appre­ci­ated. Classes Mon/Wed 7:30–8:30 pm, and Tues./ Thurs. 12:30–1 pm at Wolf­pak Mar­tial Arts 44 S. Main St., Mt. Gilead. Evening Yoga classes are held on the sec­ond floor, day­time Yoga is held in the main stu­dio room down­stairs.
