Thru Dec. — State Park Light Display — The Mount Gilead State Park VIPs have the park ready for a beautiful evening drive through thousands of lights and decorations. This free display in a peaceful setting will be available during the month of December and will be a favorite place for many to enjoy the season, but escape the frenzy that sometimes surrounds it.
Thru Dec. 17 — Sheriff’s Toy Drive — The Morrow County Sheriff’s office is holding their Annual Toy Drive. All new, unwrapped toys for kids of all ages will be collected and the toys will be distributed to children in Morrow County.
You may drop off toys in the lobby of the sheriff’s office. All toys must be received by Dec. 17, 2012
Thru Dec. 20 — Edison Baptist Toy Drive — The Edison Enterprise Baptist Church Food Pantry is sponsoring a Toy Drive from now until Dec. 20.
Mt. Gilead locations for new toys are: Autozone, NAPA, Dollar General, Edison Depot, Discount Drug Mart, Mary K’s Flower Shop, Morrow County Community Center, the EEBC Food Pantry at 3055 SR 95, Edison and the Towne Pump. In Cardington, toys can be dropped off at Dollar General, Susie Q’s, and Cardington Tru-Value.
Toys will be distributed Dec. 21 to children that come through the food pantry. Santa will be there. Help us put a smile on a child’s face!
Dec. 13 — Third Thursday Ashley Dinner — The free Ashley Community Thursday dinner will be held Dec. 13, 2012 in the Fellowship Hall of the Ashley United Methodist Church, 214 East High Street. The dinner will be served from 5 to 6:30 pm and the menu will include meat loaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, sides, dessert and beverage.
The next dinner will be served on January 17, 2013.
Dec. 14. — Benefit Supper for Northmor Students — Chili & Hot Dog Supper with Silent Auction will be held at Northmor High School Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 before the Northmor vs Mt. Gilead Boys’ basketball games.
Doors open At 4:00 p.m. and both the Supper and Silent Auction will end at start of Varsity Game. The Supper is a free-will donation, with proceeds to benefit Northmor students Kylie Hipp and James Welshans with medical expenses and the Kristen Peters Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Dec. 15 — Santa stopping at Post 97 — Jenkins-Vaughan Post 97 of the American Legion will host a visit from Santa Claus on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the post home, 307 Park Avenue. Santa, who will arrive in the engine of the Cardington Fire Department, will greet youngsters from 10 am to noon and each will be given a special sack of candy. Parents or those accompanying the children can enjoy cookies and coffee while waiting.
Dec. 27 — New Year’s Eve Celebration at Seniors on Center. All Ages Welcome from 6 — 9 p.m. Music by Country DJ Service. Roast Pork Dinner $10 for members, $12 for non members RSVP by Dec. 21 with payment. Come join us for a fun filled evening!
Free Yoga Classes — Free Community Yoga classes! Donations accepted and appreciated. Classes Mon/Wed 7:30–8:30 pm, and Tues./ Thurs. 12:30–1 pm at Wolfpak Martial Arts 44 S. Main St., Mt. Gilead.
