Knights, Indians off to good starts in wrestling

Northmor claimed second place at the Big Walnut Invitational on Saturday, winning four matches before losing in the finals.
The Knights opened their day with a 59–18 win over Paint Valley that was followed by a 42–34 win over Dublin Jerome.
In their third contest, Northmor cruised to a 55–21 win over Galion, which was followed by a 42–30 victory against the host school.
The Knights weren’t able to win in the finals, though, as Delaware Hayes claimed a 57–19 win that put Northmor in second place.
Knights Jamie Baldridge, Colin Visconti and Tyler Beck all went 5–0 on the day; while Griffin Jenkins and Sam Neer were both 4–1.
In the tournament MVP voting, Beck and Baldridge were the top two vote-getters, with Beck receiving the award.
Last Wednesday saw Northmor claim two wins in a bracket quad hosted by the school.
The Knights topped Marion Harding 64–18 and beat Tiffin Calvert 42–34.
Jenkins, Beck, Baldridge, Mitchel Whisler and Kyle Johnson all won both of their matches during the evening.
Mount Gilead Indians
The Mount Gilead wrestling team opened the season with third-place finishes in two tournaments.
On Saturday, the Indians competed in Bucyrus. Kyle Blanton (120 pounds), Luke Hutchinson (132) and Tyler Bashaw (160) all placed second. Tim Williamson (138) took third, as did Alex Blanton (145) and Connor Hill (heavyweight).
Also, Austin Jennings (182) finished fourth, Mike Mollahan (220) was fifth and both Kyle Ciballi (126) and Austin Billingsley (220) were sixth.
On Saturday, Dec. 1, Mount Gilead got third place at Franklin Heights. Hutchinson won at 132 pounds, while Williamson, Blanton and Bashaw all finished in second place. Also, Mollahan wrestled his way to fourth.
