Northmor staff and students host benefit for recovering students
Taylor Kaser -
A benefit held by Northmor Schools for two students involved in an automobile accident had an excellent turnout and support Friday evening.
A hot dog and chili dinner was served in the High school cafeteria with a silent auction later in the evening.
Money raised by the benefit will go to the families of students Kylie Hipp and James Welshans. Food Service Director Nikki Morrison commented that around $3,500 was raised from the dinner alone — money from the silent auction has not all come in yet.
Morrison, who conceived the event, said that after a date was set “everyone just stepped up to help.” Kitchen staff, the Honor Society and high school principal Chad Redmon played a key role in making the night a success.
“It’s a real blessing to the school, and we’re hoping to the students too.” said Morrison. The proceeds will help the families’ medical bills.
