Feb. 27th's Letters to the Editor

Dear Sir or Madam:

Today on Television I saw several news stories regarding the dismantling of gas chambers used in euthanizing animals at the Licking County Animal Shelter. There was all kinds of praise for the opponents of their use. Granted, euthanizing animals is not the preferred way of reducing our unwanted pet population, however it struck me as very odd that there was such an outcry regarding the use of gas chambers, because it was deemed too cruel to kill hundreds of animals in this fashion, but at the same time, these same protestors think nothing of the killing (i.e. abortion) of hundreds of thousands of HUMAN babies.

I guess it makes it easier to sleep at night if they can convince themselves that they are really nice people, if they can say they kept an animal from dieing a horrible death, never mind that they also convince themselves that aborted fetus’ are not really people and are of no consequence.

It is my firm belief that the legalizing of Abortion, by way of Roe vs. Wade, which is akin to the Dred Scott decision of 1859, along with the many media, by way of violent video games, movies and music, portraying death in such a casual manner, is one of the main contributors to the lessening of respect for life and is a causal affect of many of the mass killings, and killings in general, here in America.

There is also the fact that there has been a breakdown of the Family Unit and there are far too many children, who are confused by the lack of dicipline and guidance by their elders, who far too many times are saying to them, by their action, “do as I say, not as I do”.

Perhaps, Respect For Life, will be re-instilled in our children and ourselves, but considering the Liberal leadership (LOL) of our Government, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Thank You, Darl Mills, Mt. Gilead
