Feb. 6's Letters to the Editor

To the Editor,

Kudos to Doug Pat­ton on his “Another Clin­ton Has Lied Under Oath” in the Fri­day, Feb­ru­ary 1, 2013 News Journal.

It’s a conun­drum to me as to why Bill, who phi­lan­dered and lied his way through a Gov­er­nor­ship and two terms as Pres­i­dent, and Hillary, who in her own right is an accom­plished liar (coached by Bill) and plies her art when­ever it is con­ve­nient to her polit­i­cal career and 2016 aspi­ra­tion are admired and respected by so many – mostly Democ­rats. The only Clin­ton I have any respect for at all is Chelsea and that, for the most part, is (depend­ing on what the mean­ing of is is) she keeps her mouth shut.

Dear Sir or Madam:

Years ago there was a car­toon char­ac­ter named Pogo, who made a very pro­found state­ment that would be very appro­pri­ate for Mr. Obama’s for­eign pol­icy. Pogo said, “WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND THE ENEMY IS US”.

There are so many exam­ples that one might think of, that instead of pro­tect­ing the Amer­i­can Peo­ple, Mr. Obama is doing every­thing to under­mine our secu­rity. Among the ques­tion­able deci­sions he has made there was the time when the Egypt­ian peo­ple became dis­en­chanted with Hosni Mubarak, who despite his heavy hand, was Pro-America and there was an upris­ing with sev­eral fac­tions bat­tling for the hearts and minds of the peo­ple. Mohammed Morsi, a rather Rad­i­cal lslamist who was being pushed and spon­sored, as it were, by the Mus­lim Broth­er­hood, an Islamic fac­tion who Mr. Obama decided, in his Solomon-like wis­dom, was not such a bad fel­low and there­fore did noth­ing to chal­lenge the Broth­er­hood in their claim to power in Egypt. Now Morsi is in power and the United States is con­tin­u­ing its mil­i­tary and finan­cial sup­port of this ille­git­i­mate regime. When Mr. Mubarak was in power, we had con­tracted to sell Egypt twenty or so F-16s and despite Mr. Morsi’s hatred for Israel and his Rad­i­cal Islamic sup­port, Mr. Obama has decided to con­tinue that con­tract, when there is no real rea­son for them to have them. Egypt has no ene­mies in the area to speak of, except per­haps Israel, and that is only because they choose to have them as an enemy by call­ing them descen­dents of Pigs and other such names. This atone might give cre­dence to the claims that Mr. Obama has Islamic lean­ings and he him­self does not like Israel. Why would any­one who is sup­posed to be con­cerned with our well being, as Mr. Obama is sup­posed to be, offer a poten­tial enemy the means with which to inflict pain and destruc­tion on us or our allies?

It seems to me that not only is Mr. Obama under­min­ing America’s secu­rity on for­eign fronts, he is also try­ing to under­mine our secu­rity as a nation by try­ing to sub­vert our beloved Con­sti­tu­tion, by chip­ping away at our free­doms, under the guise of mak­ing Amer­ica safer and more prosperous.

I’d like to know, since Pres­i­dent Bush has been out of office for four years and even if a good share of our finan­cial prob­lems orig­i­nated under him, Mr. Obama should have been able to get the car out of the ditch, as he had claimed the Democ­rats had done, way back in Novem­ber of 2010, who is he going to blame now, other than himself?

It is mind bog­gling that the Amer­i­can peo­ple, despite Mr. Obama’s mis­han­dling of almost every major sit­u­a­tion that has arisen, con­tinue to sup­port him, becom­ing, in my mind, com­plicit in his grad­ual destruc­tion of our Amer­i­can way of life. That is why I believe, like Pogo, we are our own worst enemy.
