The Tomorrow Center Board of Directors held their regular meeting on February 11, and welcomed new board member Cheryl Hagerty who was sworn in by President Denise Williams.
Principal Michael Heath discussed statewide changes in teacher requirements and incentives. He explained that new data is being used, as well as a new assessment lists.
Heath noted that the school is appreciative of the donations they’ve recently received, money and items for students. So far, he said that the school has received around $22,000 from casino revenue. As far as budgeting, he explained that the school will not be relying on casino revenue as being a large source of funding.
The resignation of George Collins, effective January 18, 2013, was approved.
The school will soon be receiving new students, with some on waiting lists, said Heath. New books are needed and he hopes to acquire those using the School Improvement Grant. Heath also hopes to hire a math coach in the future, so far the school has seen a 10% improvement.
Heath also reported that the school will have about 30 students taking the OGT testing this spring.
