2nd Annual Community Center Chili Cook-Off is March 17
By Alberta Stojkovic -
Anyone who wants to make a crock pot of chili for the Community Center Chili Cook-off should get their registration in this week!
The Morrow County Community Center invites everyone in the county to take part in the Second Annual Chili Cook off on Sunday, March 17 from 4–7 p.m. at Seniors on Center, 41 W. Center St. in Mount Gilead. There is a $1.00 admission fee. Hot dogs, brats and chili will be available.
The Cook-Off is sponsored by the Morrow County Community Center and Country DJ Services with DJ Roger Wren. There will be line dancing, the Mount Gilead Show Choir will entertain, and there will be a 50/50 drawing as well as a silent auction, door prizes and more.
Contestants can bring a crock pot of their best chili and any condiments to go with it such as sour cream or cheese, said Cook off Chairman Lisa Saunders.
Chili will be judged in these categories: Traditional, Spiciest, Vegetarian, and Most Unique, with first and second place trophies for each one. There is a $10 registration donation per chili recipe. Registration forms are available at the Morrow County Community Center at 16 S. Main St. in Mount Gilead and should be returned by Friday March 15 at the latest.
Community Center Board member Rosemary Levings said there will be some great entertainment and shows at the Chili Cook-off this year.
“We hope people will come to eat chili or bring their crock pot full of chili for the crowd,” Levings said. “The Cook-Off and activities are a fund raiser for programs at the Morrow County Community Center.”
If you have questions or want a registration form to make chili, contact the Morrow County Community Center at 16 S. Main Street in Mount Gilead or call them at 419–947-2100.
