2nd Annual Community Center Chili Cook-Off is March 17

Any­one who wants to make a crock pot of chili for the Com­mu­nity Cen­ter Chili Cook-off should get their reg­is­tra­tion in this week!

The Mor­row County Com­mu­nity Cen­ter invites every­one in the county to take part in the Sec­ond Annual Chili Cook off on Sun­day, March 17 from 4–7 p.m. at Seniors on Cen­ter, 41 W. Cen­ter St. in Mount Gilead. There is a $1.00 admis­sion fee. Hot dogs, brats and chili will be available.

The Cook-Off is spon­sored by the Mor­row County Com­mu­nity Cen­ter and Coun­try DJ Ser­vices with DJ Roger Wren. There will be line danc­ing, the Mount Gilead Show Choir will enter­tain, and there will be a 50/50 draw­ing as well as a silent auc­tion, door prizes and more.

Con­tes­tants can bring a crock pot of their best chili and any condi­ments to go with it such as sour cream or cheese, said Cook off Chair­man Lisa Saunders.

Chili will be judged in these cat­e­gories: Tra­di­tional, Spici­est, Veg­e­tar­ian, and Most Unique, with first and sec­ond place tro­phies for each one. There is a $10 reg­is­tra­tion dona­tion per chili recipe. Reg­is­tra­tion forms are avail­able at the Mor­row County Com­mu­nity Cen­ter at 16 S. Main St. in Mount Gilead and should be returned by Fri­day March 15 at the latest.

Com­mu­nity Cen­ter Board mem­ber Rose­mary Lev­ings said there will be some great enter­tain­ment and shows at the Chili Cook-off this year.

“We hope peo­ple will come to eat chili or bring their crock pot full of chili for the crowd,” Lev­ings said. “The Cook-Off and activ­i­ties are a fund raiser for pro­grams at the Mor­row County Com­mu­nity Center.”
