All-district and girls’ all-state basketball teams announced

Cardington’s Clarisa Lyons received recognition from both the Central District and state of Ohio for her work on the basketball court this past season.
Lyons, a 5’9” senior, was named an honorable mention All-Ohio pick for Division III girls’ basketball. She also was named to the Division III second team in the Central District. For this season, she averaged 18.2 points per game.
Lyons was one of two Morrow County girls to earn district honors. In Division II, Highland’s Abby Garcia, a senior, picked up honorable mention recognition.
A total of six boys from the county received All-District honors. As of deadline, the All-Ohio teams for boys’ basketball had not been released.
In Division II, Highland sophomore Jett Swetland earned honorable mention honors.
Mount Gilead’s Ethan Harris was named to the second team in Division III. The 6’6” senior averaged 12.2 points per game.
Being picked for the third team in Division III was Northmor’s Zach Wiseman. A 6’ senior, he averaged 15.4 points per game.
Three more Mount Gilead players received honorable mention recognition. Being named were seniors Nic Pomeroy and Payton Vanderkooi and sophomore Xavier Harris.
