All-district and girls’ all-state basketball teams announced

Cardington’s Clar­isa Lyons received recog­ni­tion from both the Cen­tral Dis­trict and state of Ohio for her work on the bas­ket­ball court this past season.

Lyons, a 5’9” senior, was named an hon­or­able men­tion All-Ohio pick for Divi­sion III girls’ basketball. She also was named to the Divi­sion III sec­ond team in the Cen­tral Dis­trict. For this sea­son, she aver­aged 18.2 points per game.

Lyons was one of two Mor­row County girls to earn dis­trict hon­ors. In Divi­sion II, Highland’s Abby Gar­cia, a senior, picked up hon­or­able men­tion recognition.

A total of six boys from the county received All-District hon­ors. As of dead­line, the All-Ohio teams for boys’ bas­ket­ball had not been released.

In Divi­sion II, High­land sopho­more Jett Swet­land earned hon­or­able men­tion honors.

Mount Gilead’s Ethan Har­ris was named to the sec­ond team in Divi­sion III. The 6’6” senior aver­aged 12.2 points per game.

Being picked for the third team in Divi­sion III was Northmor’s Zach Wise­man. A 6’ senior, he aver­aged 15.4 points per game.

Three more Mount Gilead play­ers received hon­or­able men­tion recog­ni­tion. Being named were seniors Nic Pomeroy and Pay­ton Van­derkooi and sopho­more Xavier Harris.
