Springlike weather greeted visitors to the 39th annual Maple Syrup Festival held Sunday, March 10 at the Lutheran Memorial Camp near Fulton.
There were 841 people attending and 646 of them enjoyed the pancake and sausage dinner served with maple syrup.
Rod Pearce, director of the camp, said a net total of $4,786.65 was realized from the event and this will fund the attendance of many youths to camping sessions this summer.
Visitors purchased maple goodies made from scratch, LMC T-shirts and souvenirs, real maple syrup, maple doughnuts and sassafras tea.
The staff thanks the following for their contribution to the festival success: the “Avalon Nine” band; the Marengo Country Market — Gift Card; Avalon Foods– coffee; Michael Ford — Sassafras tea; General Mills; St. John Lutheran Church, Windfall; Todd Joliff from Lincolnshire Farms for the horse and tractor wagon rides and Cindy Pearce for baking.
Pearce expressed appreciation for the public’s support of this festival and reminds them of the Apple Butter Festival on October 13, 2013.
The Lutheran Memorial Camp is part of Lutheran Outdoor Ministries of Ohio.
