Pirate season ends at hands of Academy

The second-seeded Columbus Academy Vikings were able to pull away from Cardington thanks to strong first and third quarters on Wednesday.
In eliminating the visiting Pirates from the Division III boys’ basketball playoffs on Wednesday by a 60–34 margin, the Vikings took a 15–6 lead after eight minutes of play.
With the score 27–16 after the halftime intermission, the Vikings would outscore Cardington 18–4 in the third period to essentially clinch the win. They would go on to add one more point to their advantage in the final quarter of play.
Tyler Dornon led the Cardington offense with 13 points.
