Autism in Our Midst

Have you seen a child swinging on a swing with almost desperate focus, rocking madly, tapping repeatedly on any surface, banging her head against a wall and screaming, letting out sharp noises, humming softly to herself, wearing diapers in elementary school, not making eye contact, needing more personal space, or solving math problems at great speed? Any one of these children could be autistic.

LEtter: the cost of ‘affordable’ health care

Dear Editor,Last week we passed a historic milestone. The new “Affordable Health Care” sign up deadline came and went. We all witnessed our president take a victory lap as over 7 million people had visited the new government website. The initial goal was to have 9 million people signed up by the first of April. The revised goal was 7 million signed up and to date we only know with certainty that 7 million got on the website. Still missing is specific numbers as to how m...

(No heading)

To the Editor,As we approach another election with the MRDD issue on the ballot, I want to give you something to think about.Only by the grace of God, do you not have a child who needs these services. But for those who depend on it, they need your help to keep it going. You have the extra money to purchase a Purple Indian pizza, a quick dinner at McDonald’s or a coke that you can’t live without. Perhaps you could refrain from these things a c...

Letter: 4H a part of life

To the Editor,From the time I was a baby, I have been part of the Morrow County Fair and its 4-H programs. I’ve learned so much about life growing up around the fair. Raising an animal and taking it to the fair is hard work and it made me develop a sense of pride in what I do. I believe this has enabled me to excel in life as a young adult. It became apparent to me in college that many other people my age are used to having life handed to them. Trust me, a fair pig will not h...

Letter: weapons for small deer herds

Dear Editor: The glory days of whitetail deer hunting in Ohio are over. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, which by law is required to conserve the deer herd, has instead destroyed it.The unelected bureaucrats that run the division of wildlife, Chief Scott Zody and Deer Herd Administrator Mike Tonkovich, have no incentive to protect the herd. Instead, like others before them, they can take a lucrative retirement from the state and walk out of offi...
